About the guide
The guide is based on the PS4 version of the game (the demo, Beginning Hour, is based on Midnight version for PC). The main part of the guide is focused only on the story mode. For information about the secrets or the trophies go to the chapters/maps dedicated to those topics.
Color codes used in the guide:
- Bold text - important places, elements and information;
- Brown color - items related to the story;
- Green color - usable items;
- Blue color - the names for the places and areas on the map;
- Orange color - trophy names that can be unlocked in a given section
General tips
The usable items are often hidden behind small objects, close to the ground - if you are an observant explorer try to go through the locations crouching to get the items from among the furniture and those that are hidden behind other objects.
You can't dismantle or sell the items - if you have those that you think are useless you can discard them (but it is not recommended - it is better to take them and put into a box for later).
With each unlocked part of the house you get access to explore them later - when in danger, don't try to look through everything. The exception from this is the first stage of the game (guest house) after which you lose all of your equipment.
Codex is the name of the watch that you will hear throughout the game. When opening your equipment you can see its display. It indicates your health, just as the blood stains on HUD do.
Antique coins are worth collecting - they are used (when you enter the yard) as currency that allows you to buy the special handgun or rare stimulants.
In the hideouts you can find tape recorders that work as save points. Auto saves are also in the game.
You can store your items in green boxes that can be found in hideouts. You can get your items from every chest in any of the hideouts.
