Where to find all weapon upgrades in Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 2 Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 03 February 2019

In Resident Evil 2, every weapon can be upgraded, changing its parameters: clip size, accuracy, or reload speed. Both Leon and Claire can upgrade their weapons. This chapter contains the list and the locations of all available weapon upgrades in Resident Evil 2.

Check the contents of the safe in the room with the elevator lever at the Police Garage. The safe contains a weapon upgrade: Shoulder Stock (GM 79 Grenade Launcher). The upgrade stabilizes your aim. The upgrade is available only for Claire (Leon does not have access to this area)

Make your way to the parking and press the button on the key - one of the cars will open its trunk (its lights will flicker). You can approach the car to pick up a Gun Stock (Matilda). The upgrade stabilizes the recoil, but the weapon will now take two slots in the inventory. During Claire's campaign, the area contains a weapon (pistolet JMB Hp3).

There is a small office next to the Main Hall. One of the desks belong to Leon, unfortunately it is locked with two padlocks (the passwords are first letters of names from neighboring desks).

  1. Padlock on the left - code: NED.
  2. Padlock on the right - code: MRG.

The found upgrade depends on the currently controlled hero:

  1. Leon: High-Capacity Mag (Matilda) - increases the clip size,
  2. Claire: Speed Loader (SLS 60) - decreases the time it takes to reload the revolver.

Kendo Gun Shop (Leon)

Sewers - the safe next to the hideout

In the Sewers, there is a hidden passageway to the police station. Using it, you'll access the underground section of the station. Get to the bottom floor after descending the stairs underneath the monument (medallions riddle)

There is a weapon case next to the wall right beyond the grate - Where to find all weapon upgrades in Resident Evil 2 - FAQ - Resident Evil 2 Guide

There is a weapon case next to the wall right beyond the grate. To unlock it, you need a S.T.A.R.S. Badge - the same that you've used to pick-up the third weapon, to which the upgrades from this case are dedicated to. If you haven't taken the badge from the Armory, you can now return to retrieve it. Remember that you need to hide the USB Dongle from the badge (in inspection mode) to match the lock.

The case contains:

  1. Leon: Long Barrel (Lightning Hawk): Decreases the recoil and increases the firepower of the weapon.
  2. Claire: Suppressor (MQ-11): Improves the stability of the weapon.

If you are during your Second Run playthrough, you've picked up the badge earlier, and you don't need to wait until you've reached the sewers; during a standard playthrough the badge is picked-up only after getting past the police garage, and in that moment of the game, you cannot return to the sewers.

If you've found the Roll Film in the Sewers, you can return using the secret pathway to the Police Station, to develop the photographs. The roll film is found in a small room next to the switch which contains the switch with the Rook piece.

The riddle involves finding two locations shown on the photos that contain the following items: ammo for the final weapon (Chemical Flamethrower / Spark Shot) and the final weapon upgrade. You cannot access these locations without developing the roll film (you won't be able to interact where due).
