Get the blue key (spades) task | Police station in Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 2 Guide and Walkthrough

Time for the second task in the Raccoon City police station. You need to get the blue key (spades). You can use it to open some of the doors marked with this symbol. The key is also a story-related item which means you won't be able to proceed without it.

Use the knife, the same one you got from Marvin in the main hall, to cut the tape on the second switch (this gate is on the right). Keep moving through the corridor. Ignore zombies on your way. Enter the room at the end of that corridor.

Climb up and go through the window beneath the ceiling.

Take the map hanging on the wall. Climb up to the window beneath the ceiling, and reach the adjacent corridor. Now, reach the stairs at end of that corridor. Go down to the ground floor. Go through the door near the stairs - you will find a typewriter (save point).

Go up to the third floor. The blue spades key is on the desk inside the small room. You now have to go back to the main hall - you can reach the end of the corridor on the floor you are currently at, go through the storage room and reach the library which is connected with the hall.

You can also go down the stairs to the ground floor and go through the office (the room next to the small window you went through earlier). Both rooms mentioned here have a door that requires the blue key - interact with it and select the right key to open the door (they will stay open permanently).
