Microtransactions do exist in Diablo Immortal. Although the game urges hardcore players to purchase loot packs or Platinum for Eternal Orbs. We answer the questions if you should use them and what difference they make.

Diablo Immortal is a free-2-play game, so you can expect it to try and encourage you to spend real money more than once. Here you can read how often the game prompts you to spend money, what are the prices, what is Platinum and Eternal Orbs, and is there a content restricted only to those spending real money.
Shop's offer
All microtransactions in the game are done via the Shop tab from the main menu. In Diablo Immortal, you will come across microtransactions from the very beginning. They come in various forms:
- Packs - you will find many deals and different prices here. The packs mainly offer Eternal Orbs - the shop's basic currency - and Crests - use them in Elder Rifts to obtain Runes and Legendary gems.
- Subscriptions - you can, e.g. extend your Battle Pass to earn bigger rewards throughout the season. In this case, you will find offers for both hardcore and casual players who do not want to stay too far behind.
- Purchase specific items like skins.
- Purchase materials and items - you can buy these after obtaining Eternal Orbs.
Do I need to purchase items?
No - the game allows you to complete the main story and enjoy the game in full for free without any major restrictions. As always, the main feature of microtransactions is the increase in the pace of progress. New players will not be significantly affected by this, so you don't have to worry about buying anything at the beginning of the game. The problems arise when you want to improve your character in the context of the endgame. Gems play a significant role here, especially their legendary versions. In other words: without paying, you'll likely stop at some point near the end of the game and be almost unable to build your character to reach their ultimate potential.
The downside is that the players' progress is limited, e.g. the maximum number of rewards per week, including Legendary items, or even lowering the experience gained by the best players - but it is not certain whether this model will be maintained all the time and on all servers.
Platinum
Platinum is an additional in-game currency. It is required for certain activities and interactions. Of course, you can buy it for Eternal Orbs - in a ratio of 1:10 (1 Orb is worth 10 Platinum). Platinum is used for, among others:
- Buying Echo Crystal - an item that allows you to upgrade Normal Gems above level 5.
- Creating a clan - to create a clan, you need 3,000 Platinum.
- Shopping in the Market - the currency in that place is Platinum. In the Market, you can only trade Normal and Legendary Gems, Runes and Talismans.
- Extracting Skill Stones from Charms.
You can get Platinum in a different way than through the store, but it will be difficult. The first way is to sell unnecessary items: Runes, Talismans, Gems. Interestingly, Normal Gems and Legendary Runes can be purchased with Hilts, so it's a kind of indirect method of trading and acquiring Platinum. When buying normal runes, you can additionally choose which ones you want to buy, taking into account the prices on the Market.
The second method is to maximize the daily activity requirements for earning Battle Points (Season 1) - you will earn 300 Platinum if you get 120 Battle Points in one day. This value may change in other seasons.
