While playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the activities you choose have different Combat Strength requirements, which is a similar mechanic to experience levels known from other games. On this page of our guide, we explain how to increase Combat Strength of the protagonist, and whether advancing to higher experience levels is permanent.
Current Combat Strength and its impact on gameplay
- Combat Strength is the most important factor describing the hero. You can view it in all the menus - it is in the right side of the screen.
- Additionally, you can choose to display detailed statistics. Here you'll find information regarding current Health and Energy, damage output, the stopping power of your weapons, and active bonuses (e.g. to stealth or ranged weapon damage).
- You should always check the Combat Strength of the challenge/activity you want to undertake, as a mismatch can make the task unbearably difficult.
- Additionally, try to avoid enemies of much higher levels. They can easily kill you, and on the other hand, will be resistant to your attacks.
- Make sure to start quests that recommended level is higher or lower than your Combat Strength. If you don't have any such tasks in your journal, visit locations from the map that have available side quests.
How to advance to next levels?
Combat Strength is not exactly like classic experience levels. Its current value is influenced by:
- Purchased skills - Combat Strength will increase only after spending obtained Skill Points, not immediately after acquiring them.
- Equipment placed in active inventory slots - this includes clothing and weapons, including all of their Mods.
When changing equipment, pay attention to the colors and arrows next to Combat Strength. The green color and upward arrow indicate that a given change will improve Combat Strength, while the red color and downward arrow warn of a potential decrease.
- In extreme cases, replacing equipment with one with worse statistics may result in being dropped to a lower level again. In such cases, you must undo this change or make other changes to the equipment you are using to return to a higher level.
- The game can additionally warn you with an exclamation mark that a given item is inferior to the equipped one and potentially lowers your Combat Strength (example in the screenshot). Consider replacing it quickly with a crafted or obtained better item.
