Pandora, albeit beautiful, is a dangerous and treacherous place. RDA, even with their advanced weaponry and equipment, cannot match some of the largest threats. Even they tremble before Thanators - huge, fortunately rare, four-legged beasts. Defeating one of them is required for the No Easy Prey trophy. On this page of our guide, we describe these challenging opponents and show how to fight them successfully.

Feral Thanators

1. Your first encounter with this species will probably be the Feral Thanators, victims of RDA experiments. While they are considerably dangerous, they cannot match with a prime specimen - consider them an introduction to the Thanator species. Killing a Feral Thanator doesn't unlock the trophy in question. Moreover, they don't leave any loot behind, which means you're free to use firearms to defeat them.

Non-Feral Thanators

1. There are several types of Non-Feral Thanators. Nevertheless, when it comes to their statistics and combat tactics applied for the encounter, they are all the same. The only difference is the received loot - depending on the Thanator, you'll be able to harvest its Tooth or Bone, as well as Light/Heavy Hide.
2. Non-Feral Thanators are among the most powerful, fastest, and most durable enemies in the game. If you do not feel strong enough/ready to face them, do not enter their territory or escape as soon as you see one. Fortunately, the prowling grounds of a Non-Feral Thanator are small in size, and there are not many of them in the game. 1. One of the signs that you're near a Thanator is a unique screen effect. Once you're targeted by a Thanator, the edges of the screen will be covered with a white mist, and you won't be able to use your Na'vi Senses. Additionally you'll hear your rapid heartbeat. After a short moment, the effect will be removed - this is when the Thanator will appear next to you and attack.
2. While the effect is active, try to prepare for the fight and eat beneficial food - the best choices here are dishes that increase damage dealt, lower damage received or increase maximum health.

1. Thanators are fast, very durable, and deal high damage. However, their attack patterns are predictable - they mainly charge and lunge at you. Stay at a distance from the predator and make side dodges as he attacks. If you've managed to evade an attack, the animal will require a moment to target you again - during that time, you have a perfect opportunity to locate and fire at one of his weak spots.
2. Unfortunately, these areas of the monster are very small, so successfully landing a hit on them can be a challenge. Don't worry too much if you miss - the loot and materials gathered from the carcass are always Exquisite even if Clean Kill was a fail.
3. When fighting a Thanator, consider equipping a Short Bow for its rate of fire and a Spear Launcher for its damage dealt. A Longbow should also prove to be useful thanks to its versatility. Using a Heavy Bow is not recommended - Thanator fights at a short distance, and the prolonged drawing of the Heavy Bow will expose you to attacks. Using Assault Rifles and Shotguns will destroy the resources you could have gathered off the Thanator - use them only if the fight goes sideways and you're at the brink of dying.
