The battles are fought in different environments. However, in most cases, the maps have specific corridors, which you have to follow. This means that you can't run away from most of the encounters. That's why you have to use the environment to your advantage.

It is very important to remember about using cover. Your Inquisitor can take cover behind almost everything that you can see. You are informed by a special indicator whether you can take cover by something; it appears next to cover that can be used by your character.

If you hold the right button, your character will take cover behind a piece of the environment. This will, however, prevent you from attacking enemies. That's why it's a good idea to take cover behind shorter objects so that you can keep attacking enemies from behind it. This does not guarantee complete safety from enemy projectiles but drastically decreases the chance to get hit.

However, you cannot keep hiding behind the same piece of cover all the time. Every cover can be destroyed. The state of the cover you're using is shown with a special indicator. If it falls to zero, your cover becomes useless. That's why you need to constantly keep on the move.

Explosive containers are another important element of the battlefield. These are the reddish and translucent objects containing some sort of fluid. Hitting them with any type of weapon makes them explode.

This is very effective for large groups of opponents. You must be careful, because the Inquisitor also takes damage from the explosion of the tank. Causing an explosion when you are in the immediate vicinity of an explosion tank may end the life of your Inquisitor.

During the battle it is also worth to use turrets. They are less common than the two elements mentioned above, but equally useful. This turrets need someone to operate. It is usually manned by an enemy unit. However, if you manage to eliminate it, you will be able to use it in combat. Although, you must remember, that if enemies get too close, the turrets will be useless.

The last important thing on the battlefield is to avoid strong attacks. More powerful units of classes such as Champion can lead to powerful AoE attacks (Area of Effect). They are usually some signs before they occur. This allows you to avoid further damage. In the case of opponent's charge, the direction is marked with arrows. In the case of area-based attacks, a red circle appears, showing the place and extent of the attack.
