Reyna is one of the characters available in Valorant and belongs to the Duelists type. Reyna is an extremely well-trained assassin and shows her true value when fighting several opponents at once. The first skill of Reyna is Leer that blinds enemies. Reyna's second skill is Devour that can be used to quickly regain lost health. The third skill is called Dismiss, which allows Reyna to avoid receiving any damage. Reyna's ultimate ability is called the Empress and it enhances her combat skills.
Reyna is a unique character in many ways and it may take a lot of time if you want to master her abilities to perfection. To use her two main skills - Devour and Dismiss, Reyna consumes the souls of her fallen enemies, which means that it's impossible to play this character effectively without scoring any kills. Well-trained Reyna is an extremely dangerous opponent especially when she manages to get at least one successful kill during a team combat.
Leer
Reyna activates an ethereal eye, which she can send ahead at close range. The eye stays in a certain place for a short while and will blind any opponent that looks in its direction. Leer can also works through walls - an opponent hiding just around the corner cannot feel fully safe.
In the screenshot presented above, you can see that Reyna's Leer ability was used through the wall and blinded the opponent, who was just looking in that direction. This made him an easy target to eliminate. The fact that a character was blinded is indicated by the black and violet aura which completely overshadowed his head.
It's worth knowing that Reyna's ethereal eye can be destroyed by a few bullets from a gun or a short series from a machine gun. An eye that receives the right amount of damage will immediately disintegrate and no longer affect potential targets.
You can protect yourself from the Leer skill in several ways. The first option is not looking in towards the eye's direction. However, if an ethereal eye suddenly appears in front of your character, you can quickly turn the other way so you don't get blinded. The last option is to destroy the ethereal eye before it activates.
Devour
To use the Devour skill, Reyna will have to consume the soul of a fallen opponent. Once this skill is activated, she will immediately regain 100 health points. The healing effect does not occur immediately, but the healing rate will increase with every second.
During gameplay, special attention should be paid to the fact that the souls of fallen opponents do not remain above the ground for the whole round. After eliminating the target, you have only 3 seconds to collect its soul, otherwise the soul will be lost. However, this doesn't mean that every soul of a fallen opponent must be used, because sometimes it will simply be unnecessary.
Devour is an extremely useful skill that not only heals your character, but also can grant you a special buff called Overheal This means that after replenishing the health points to the maximum, Reyna can gain as much as +50 additional health points. The bonus health acts as an extra shield and it lasts for a certain amount of time after which it diminishes and gets lost.
It should be noted here that the Overheal effect will not be activated when Reyna has an additional protective shield that can be purchased from the equipment store before the start of the round. This is probably a deliberate move in order to not overpower this character.
Dismiss
To use the Dismiss skill, Reyna will have to consume the soul of a killed opponent. After activating this skill, Reyna becomes completely immortal and immune to any sort of damage. She will be able to move through the map, but she cannot use any skills or weapons during this state.
During gameplay, special attention should be paid to the fact that the souls of fallen opponents do not remain above the ground for the whole round. After eliminating the target, you have only 3 seconds to collect its soul, otherwise the soul will be lost. However, this doesn't mean that every soul of a fallen opponent must be used, because sometimes it will simply be unnecessary.
In the picture above you can see that Reyna used the soul of a fallen enemy and entered the invulnerable state. The duration of the skill is represented by a green bar, which we have marked by a red frame in the above picture. Once the bar gets depleted, Reyna pulls out her gun and is able to use her skills again. It is worth noting here that the animation of Dismiss skill has some delay. When the effect of this skill passes, there is a short time frame during which Reyna is unequipped but is vulnerable to damage and she can be easily eliminated in this time.
While Reyna is under the effect of the Dismiss ability, she is completely insensitive to any damage (from falls, weapons, explosions, or Raze's Ultimate). Also, she cannot activate any Cypher traps (Trapwire, Cyber Cage).
Empress - Ultimate
The Empress is a unique ability that allows Reyna to significantly increase her combat capabilities. As a result of this skill, Reyna has sharpened eyesight as well as is able to fire and reload weapons at a much faster rate. Increased firing speed also reduces the recoil of the weapon, which translates into greater accuracy.
The picture above reveals how Reyna's vision gets changed after she uses her Empress ability, which is the ultimate skill of this character. The vision is slightly darkened and all opponents are highlighted by a clear red border and a red glow, making them much easier to spot and eliminate.
When Reyna is under the influence of the Empress's ability, she also gets an unlimited charges of Dismiss and Devour abilities. What's more, the Devour skill activates itself automatically (red frame in the picture above) when the character kills the opponent, so it can be considered as an automatic healing. The effect of ultimate Reyna's skill lasts for a really long time, and each kill additionally increases its duration (check the green frame in the picture above).
The Dismiss ability gets an additional effect while Reyna is affected by the Ultimate skill. She enters a state of invulnerability (immune to any damage) and also completely disappears from the enemy's field of view so that she can quickly take a different position and attack the opponent with surprise or withdraw completely from the fight.
