Valorant: Best characters - offensive, defensive, tier list Valorant guide, tips
Last update: 23 July 2020
In Valorant, players can play as one of 11 available characters, which are divided into specific categories: Controller, Initiator, Duelist, and Sentinel. Because of this, some characters perform better on offense and possess deadly skills, while others are more defensive and able to make the game more difficult for opponents. This chapter of the guide describes the characters available in Valorant and what are the best offensive and defensive heroes.

List of defensive characters
There are currently 11 characters available in Valorant, and each has certain abilities. Some of the skills are offensive and inflict massive damage, while others are areal and cause injuries spread over time. In Valorant, there are also characters with purely defensive skills, and they are the ones who are most valuable when it comes to defending Spike locations. It is important to know what the best defensive characters are, which is why we have prepared a special list of defensive agents in Valorant. We have divided them into tiers - with S being the best character class and C the worst. The skills that are most useful when defending Spikes are taken into account when assessing the character.
Best defensive characters
Among the defensive characters available in Valorant, there are Sage and Cypher. The former has everything that is needed for effective defense - the ability to block passages and slow enemies down, heal, and even the ability to resurrect a dead ally! The second character included in the S-Class is Cypher. His espionage skills allow him to acquire a great deal of information that can be used during a match. By attaching a spy camera at one point Cypher can easily move to another point on the map and keep an eye on the previous location.
Tiers | Agents |
Class A includes Brimstone, Breach, Sova, Omen and Phoenix. Brimstone and Breach possess extremely useful skills that allow them to defend a site on their own for a short period of time. As a result of recent patches, Omen has become more defense-viable helping him jump into the standard lineup. It's fair to say that A-Tier characters are the most versatile in the whole game. The B Tier includes Viper, Raze, and a new agent introduced in Patch 1.0 - Reyna. After the last nerf, Raze unfortunately was severely weakened which puts her in the bottom half of the table. Reyna hasn't turned out to be effective character yet, but it's possible that she will improve later in the season. The table of defensive figures is closed by Jett, who has nothing to offer when it comes to defense aside from being able to carry three smoke screens. Recent buffs for this character did not allow her to break through to the higher end of the table.
List of offensive characters
There are currently 11 characters available in Valorant, and each has certain abilities. Some of the skills are typically offensive and instantly inflict massive damage, while others operate in a certain area, and cause injuries spread over time, reduce a character's visibility, etc.. In Valorant, there are characters who have the skills that are most valuable when you have to break through to the Spike location. It is important to know what the best offensive characters are, which is why we have prepared a special list of offensive characters in Valorant, which we have divided into tiers - with S being the best character class and C the worst. The skills that are most useful when attacking a Spike location e are taken into account when assessing the character.
Best offensive characters
The S-Class featured characters who, using their skills, can help the team break through to Spike's point of entry and activate the charge. Breach is an irreplaceable character in the attack on Spike's point due to his ability to control other characters even through walls - blindinging, stunning, dropping. Brimstone, using his smoke grenades, can completely deprive opponents of vision, and his Ultimate skill is an extremely deadly weapon. Sage to jedyny healer w grze wiec wciaz pozostaje w S Tier bez wzgledu na to, czy gra po stronie obronców czy atakujacych.
Tiers | Agents |
The A Tier included four agents: Sova, Omen, Phoenix and Cypher. Sova is not only a good scout, but is also capable of inflicting very large area of effect damage. Phoenix, despite recent nerfs and limited healing options, received a buff to his Curveball ability, allowing him to stun enemies for longer. Omen jumped into the A-Tier thanks to recent buffs to his abilities. Despite the fact that the best spy camera spots are being fixed all the time, Cypher is still an irreplaceable spy character on any team. We placed Reyne in the B grade due to the fact that too little time has passed since the premiere to be able to properly evaluate the agent. It's possible Reyna will jump to the higher end of the table soon. In addition to Reyna, the B-Tier also features the heavily nerfed Rez and Jett. The table closes with Viper as there are many better offensive characters in Valorant.
