Ranks in Valorant - rules
The Valorant ranked mode is based on the same principles as the standard mode. Players will compete in 5-man teams on one of 3 currently available maps: Bind, Haven, Split and Ascent. The game continues until one of the teams wins 13 rounds. Access to the ranked mode in Valorant can be unlocked only after 20 standard games have been played. Player gets a specific rank based on the results achieved in non-ranked games. By playing matches in ranked mode, player can advance to the next rank if he or she has enough skill and satisfying results. However, player's rank can be reduced and lowered if the results are not satisfying enough.
In a nutshell:
- To unlock Valorant's ranked mode (competitive mode), the player will have to play 20 unrated matches (the so-called unrated matches that will determine your skills);
- There will be 7 standard ranks available in Valorant which have been divided into 3 stages. Also, there is one unique rank called Radiant.
- Players can play solo (then they will be joined to a team composed of random players representing a very similar skill level) or join in predefined 5-member teams, but their ranks must not differ by more than 2.
Valorant Ranked Mode - All ranks
A total of 8 ranks will be available in Valorant. The first 7 ranks, namely Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Immortal have been divided into 3 stages. The last, highest rank is called Radiant and is reserved only for best players. The following table lists all the ranks that will be available in Valorant along with their stages.
Rank icons | Rank description |
Iron is the first of the ranks available in Valorant and has been divided into 3 stages. The weakest Valorant players will be placed in this rank. They will have the opportunity to improve their skills in order to achieve better results in the game and to advance to a higher rank over time.
Bronze is the second rank available in Valorant, which has also been divided into 3 stages. Players playing in this rank will already know the basics of the game and are able to perform syntactic actions on the enemy position, as well as communicate correctly with team members.
Silver is the third consecutive rank in Valorant. Similarly to the other ranks, the silver rank was also divided into 3 stages. The vast majority of players will reach this rank once they have completed the unrated matches.
Gold is the fourth consecutive rank in Valorant. The Gold rank was also divided into 3 stages. Gold will probably be the most even and balanced rank in the game - many players will have it for a long time.
Platinum is the fifth consecutive rank in Valorant. Unlike previous ranks, players who have the Platinum rank will certainly present a really high level of skill and make lower amount of mistakes.
Diamond is the penultimate main rank available in Valorant. The Diamond rank was also divided into 3 stages. The game at this level is definitely going to be very exciting and even. Even one mistake can lead to defeat.
Immortal is the highest basic rank available in Valorant. As in case of the other ordinary ranks, the Immortal rank was also divided into 3 stages. After passing through the last stage of Immortal rank, players will be granted a special rank - VALORANT.
Radiant is the highest possible rank available in Valorant. The Radiant rank is reserved only for the best players and will include all pro players well-known for their performances in various tournaments. |
Valorant Ranked Mode - how can I get a higher rank?
It is known from official sources that in ranked mode, winning is the most important factor to advance your rank, but it is not the only significant aspect that affects your ranking progress in Valorant. If you show off your skills during the whole game, your efforts will be appreciated and you can be able to advance much faster.
It is worth noting here that a player's personal performance will be of particular importance when assessing his skill level before being assigned to a particular rank. For that reason, you always have to give your best and try to perform as well as you can - especially when you are playing the unrated matches which determine your rank. Interestingly, the ranking system implemented in the Valorant will be able to measure how bad a defeat was and on this basis allocate a certain number of ranking points.
Valorant Ranked Mode - matchmaking
The Valorant ranked mode is able to select players for each team in such a way as to ensure the most balanced gameplay as possible. It is also worth noting that the ranking system in Valorant is going to be able to detect "smurfing" players who have already reached a high or even very high level and deliberately create a new account to play against players representing a lower level of skill. With this solution, the player can be sure to play against players who display similar skills.
