Valorant: Ascent - tips Valorant guide, tips

Last update: 23 July 2020

This page contains a number of tips that can prove to be useful when playing on Ascent in Valorant.

Ascent is one of the maps that was added to Valorant on the day of its release. The new map is set in Italy and there is no shortage of buildings or decorations (paintings, figures) that really reflect the Italian atmosphere and culture. The Ascent has two Spike planting points and an open space in the middle, which is a key point for the attacking team. What sets Ascent apart from other maps is the interesting mechanics featuring automatic armored doors that can cut off access to Spike sites.

  1. Characters with scouting skills such as Sova or Cypher are particularly useful on Ascent. Breach and Brimstone, as well as Sage, are also extremely useful.
  2. Mid is the most important place on Ascent - whoever takes over Mid will gain a huge advantage over the opponent as they will have access to all the pathways to Spike sites.
  3. If you want to use the automatic doors and cut off your opponents'access to Spike's location, remember not to do it too soon, as your team will not be able to rotate and move to a better position if they lose the fight for Mid.
  4. The armored door can be destroyed by firing at with a weapon - 13 rounds in case of Vandal.
  5. On Ascent, there are two orbs that give you 1 point towards unlocking your Ultimate after picking up. The first is located at A Main and the second is located at B Main. If you have this opportunity, collect them to access your character's ultimate abilities faster.
  6. When defending, it is best to leave 2 players on A, 2 on Mid, and one on B. When you control Mid there is no point sending 2 players to B, as there is only one road leading there.
  7. You can fire through walls on Mid Bottom, while walls leading to Mid Link can be fired through after destroying the armor.

Tips for navigating the map and setting up and disarming Spikes can be found on separate pages of our guide:
