Valorant: All available characters - list, archetypes, skills Valorant guide, tips

Last update: 05 August 2020

In this chapter of our guide you will find characteristics and features of all Valorant characters along with their archetypes and a bunch of tips that will prove useful during the game.

After the release of Valorant, 11 new characters have been added to the game.

Five of them are available right away and they are:

  1. Brimstone - Controller,
  2. Jett - Duelist,
  3. Phoenix - Duelist,
  4. Sage - Sentinel,
  5. Viper - Controller.

The other six must be unlocked, and among them are:

  1. Sova - Initiator,
  2. Cypher - Sentinel,
  3. Omen - Controller,
  4. Breach - Initiator,
  5. Raze - Duelist,
  6. Reyna - Duelist,
  7. Killjoy - Sentinel.

Each character available in Valorant has different skills and represents a different style of play. If you're a fan of quick duels and you care about constant action full of intense movement, then Jett will do an excellent job in this role. If, on the other hand, you prefer to act as a support character and cause a lot of trouble to your opponents, then Breach may be the best choice for you.

Archetypes and skills

The characters available in the Valorant have been divided into 4 archetypes (classes): Duelist, Controller, Sentinel, and Initiator. Each character has 4 skills.

The first two (by default press C and Q keys) are optional and can be purchased at the beginning of the game depending on the chosen strategy.

The third skill (by default press E key) is a basic ability - available to every player from the very beginning of the game.

The last available skill is called Ultimate (by default press X key), which can be unlocked after collecting a certain number of kills or by looting special spheres scattered across the map.

The character skills may have different cooldown times - some heroes will renew their skills passively, over time. Others characters may have to eliminate someone in order to gain access to their skill again. No matter how your character renews a skill, at the beginning of every round each player has one stack of that skill available.
