Walkthrough - Kobin's Mansion | Walkthrough Splinter Cell Conviction Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Walkthrough: Start off by heading towards a door located directly in front of you #1. Notice that you can use a mirror to see what's on the other side - it's useless in this case, but this gadget will come in handy later in the game. Open the door and head right so that you'll be moving towards an old museum seen in the distance #2.
You must now decide how you want to enter the museum building:
OPTION A - opening the left door and silently killing two guards
OPTION B - climbing on a brick wall to the right of the entrance and avoiding all the guards
Option A: This method is easier, however it won't allow you to enter the museum without killing anyone. Approach a multi-colored door found to your left #1. Open the door and silently kill the first guard #2.
Move closer to two other guards seen in the distance. You won't have to kill them - instead check the left wall to find a pipe #1. Use the pipe to get to an upper ledge and then move to your right. You should find yourself close to a guard #2. Grab him to throw him out the window and then enter the building.
Option B: Keep heading forward. You should be staying close to the buildings located to your right. Take cover behind the vehicle found close to the museum entrance #1 and hit it to start an alarm. Notice that one of the guards is now moving your way to check what's happening with the car #2.
Wait until the other guard (the one standing close to the main entrance to the museum) turns around and quickly move towards the next cover which is going to be a red car parked nearby #1. Once you're there you can move towards another car #2.
Approach the museum building form the right side and you should notice a large wall #1. Fisher won't have any problems climbing here to get to the other side and once you're there locate a pipe on the right wall #2.
Use the pipe to get to the ledge and then head left. Ignore the first window, because one of the guards will be standing here #1. You won't have to kill him, because you can go left to get to an unguarded window #2. Enter the museum building.
Walkthrough (continued): Both options will allow you to find your way to the museum building and you should start off by proceeding to the left room #1. Ignore the light switch, because turning off the lights would attract the attention of nearby guards (especially if you've chosen option B). Instead you may approach a nearby door right away #2.
Opening the door will allow you to find yourself standing (or crouching) directly behind a single guard #1. Make sure to be careful here so that he doesn't hear your footsteps. Turn left #2.
Make a few steps forward. Instead of choosing a passageway located in front of you climb on a pipe located to your left #1. Doing this will allow you to get to a horizontal pipe and you may start using it go get to central area of the main hall #2.
Keep using the pipe and you'll get to the other side #1. Slide down to make your way to a new balcony. I would recommend stopping here for a while, because this balcony is being patrolled by a single guard #2. Avoid being seen by him.
Wait until the guard starts moving towards your current destination and follow him #1. You must be crouching here, because otherwise you'll be spotted by a guard from the previously explored balcony. Locate a glass door to your left and head inside #2.
Keep moving forward until you get to an equipment crate #1. You'll have a chance to buy and choose weapons here, as well as to purchase useful upgrades. Once you're done choosing your arsenal proceed towards a corridor located to the right #2.
Keep heading forward here. There's a lamp in the main corridor. You won't have to destroy it, because you may move to your right to stay in the shadows #1. Eventually you'll reach a new set of pipes. Notice a new lamp here #2. You can destroy it, however you shouldn't be noticed by anyone even if it stays on.
Use the first pipe to get to the horizontal one and then start moving towards the main area #1. Eventually you should end up above one of the guards #2. You'll have to land on this guard to perform a silent kill (sadly you won't be allowed to land anywhere else). The only good news is that his death won't alarm any of his colleagues.
You must now decide how you want to reach the next area:
OPTION A - dropping a large chandelier on enemy units
OPTION B - avoiding enemy units and staying in the shadows
Option A: Choosing this option will allow you to reach your destination much faster, but you will be forced to eliminate most of the nearby guards. Proceed towards the largest group of opponents #1. Hide somewhere to the left, wait for a larger group to stop under a large orange chandelier and fire with a silenced pistol at the chandelier so that this object will kill them #2.
Use the chaos to your advantage and make your way to a passageway leading to the next area of the map #1. Make sure that no one is looking your way, use the light switch on the left wall and head forward #2, collecting two EMP grenades along the way.
Option B: Choosing this option will allow you to reach your destination without killing anyone, but obviously it's not going to be easy. Remain in the area where you've killed the guard by landing on him. Aim for a smaller chandelier seen in a corridor located in the distance #1. You'll know that you're targeting the right object when your pointer will change its color from white to red. Destroying that chandelier will alarm the guards so proceed directly towards a balcony found to your right #2. Be careful here, because the area is being patrolled by a single guard.
Thankfully you can easily avoid the guard located here by approaching one of the windows #1 and pressing the action key. Start heading right once you're outside the building #2.
Make a stop when you reach a window located directly behind one of the pillars. Wait until one of the guards from the ground floor shows up here and then climb through the window to take cover behind the pillar #1. Make sure that no one is looking your way and then use the stairs to return to the ground floor #2.
Slowly approach the corridor with a destroyed chandelier. The guards may have reacted to your in many different ways so as a result this corridor may be unguarded or guarded by a single person #1. Enter it, take cover behind the nearest object and use your silenced pistol to destroy a second chandelier #2.
Remain hidden for a while, because the nearest guard(s) may check what's happening here #1. Wait until the situation calms down and then proceed forward #2, collecting two EMP grenades along the way.
Walkthrough (continued): You'll soon reach a staircase and naturally you'll have to proceed to a lower level #1. Carefully enter a new large room #2 where Kobin will have a surprise planned for you - he'll send more of his guards to kill you.
There are two passageways leading to the next area of the map - you can choose either the left passageway or the right passageway. Stay away from the central path, because there are far too many lights there. It doesn't really matter which passageway you'll choose, because in both cases you'll have a chance to locate pipes #1 #2 and to climb to get closer to the ceiling. The rest of this walkthrough applies to the left path, however you can expect similar actions in the right path.
Use the pipes located close to the ceiling to avoid nearby guards #1 and keep heading towards a new vertical pipe. Slide down and approach a nearby door #2. You can try using a mirror here or you can open the door right away.
Wait until nearby guards leave your surroundings, because it's going to be bright here. Enter the room, quickly turn around and grab a ledge located above the door #1. Climb up again to find yourself closer to the ceiling #2. You'll be safe here, because there aren't any lights in your vicinity.
You can now start moving right #1. Doing this will allow you to get to the opposite end of this area without having to deal with any of the guards. Keep moving right until you've reached the end #2. You must now think of a way of dropping down safely. I would recommend waiting for the guards to leave this area, however you could also land on one of the mercenaries of use an EMP grenade to kill all the lights for a few seconds.
Either way you'll have to quickly reach your destination where you'll find a new equipment crate #1. If you've used an EMP grenade you'll also have to avoid the guards, because they'll be alarmed by what you've done #2.
Wait for a right moment to make a move and quickly proceed towards the stairs #1. You'll end up in a new corridor and you should be heading forward. Open the door and then use the stairs to leave the building #2.
Approach a new pipe and start climbing #1. You'll soon get to a new ledge and you must proceed to your right. Avoid the window with a single guard and proceed to the last window #2. Climb through the window to find yourself standing in a dark area of the corridor.
Head forward #1 and then turn left twice. Doing this should allow you to get close to the stairs #2. If you haven't killed the last guard and if you see him in the distance you should consider destroying a nearby source of light or running. Otherwise proceed directly to the upper floor.
Your next assignment will be to eliminate all of Kobin's guards so that you'll be allowed to interrogate him. You can approach the barricaded door if you wish to #1 and use a mirror to see what's going on inside the room #2. I wouldn't recommend storming through the door, because it would be far too risky (even if you'd use Mark and Execute system).
Instead of using the main door you should turn right and go towards the windows #1. Climb through one of the windows and start moving right #2.
As soon as you've reached the first window you should notice a single guard standing next to it #1. Grab him, because his disappearance won't be noticed by any of his colleagues. Keep moving right until you've reached the last window #2.
Climb through the window and quickly move to your right, so that you'll end up in a much darker area #1. There's a new row of windows to your right and you should approach the nearest one #2. Climb through this window to exit the building again.
Use the ledge to move right. You should make a stop near one of the windows in the middle from where you'll see Kobin and his bodyguards. Mark both bodyguards and eliminate them using Mark and Execute action #1. Quickly start moving to your right #2, because other guards may look out the windows to see what's going on.
Make a stop under the last window and make sure that the main character is fully hidden #1. Wait for one of the guards to approach this window and grab him to throw him out of the building #2. If you didn't make any mistakes earlier on his death shouldn't alarm his buddies.
Assuming you've done everything according to the plan, there should be two guards remaining (not counting Kobin). One of them will patrol the area to the left of Kobin #1 and the other one to the right #2. You're free to choose how you want to engage them. I would recommend surprising at least one of them from the back which should be easy if a lot of sources of light have been destroyed during the firefight. You can also try using your pistol and aiming for their heads if you want to play it safe.
Your final objective will be to get to Kobin. I would recommend entering the room through one of the windows located close to his position and taking cover behind a sofa #1. Wait for the leader of the bandits to look the other way, quickly approach him and press the action key to grab him #2 which will allow Fisher to start a new interrogation.
The interrogation itself is very similar to the one from the previous mission, so it'll have three phases and you'll be allowed to use objects from the environment to inflict additional injuries to Kobin. I would recommend using bar stools #1, a piano #2 and one of the windows. You'll also have to pick him up from the ground after completing the second phase.
