Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help The Walking Dead Guide

Last update: 06 April 2023

The situation is not good - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

The situation is not good. You'll start by talking with Clementine (the talk will turn out differently depending on whether Clementine ate human flesh or not, or took some into her mouth but spat it out). No matter what you'll tell her, in a while you'll regain control over Lee. You can have a little chat with Lilly and Kenny, a bit longer with Clementine and the longest with Larry. The latter will reproach you for all the bad things you did to him in this and the previous episode (provided you did any at all - for, example, siding with Kenny in the pharmacy, not giving him a piece of food, feeding him with human flesh, etc.). Finally, you can choose one of the two options, but your choice does not matter.

Only after youve finished talking to all of them can you start to look at the items - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Only after you've finished talking to all of them can you start to look at the items. There are Boxes, Shelves, Pallets, Salt licks and Air Conditioner you should examine here. Immediately after looking at the latter (so it's best not to do it right now), or after a certain time has passed, Larry will have another heart attack, while you the third tough decision to make in this episode.

Kenny and Lilly will start to argue - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Kenny and Lilly will start to argue. Kenny will remind you of what happened in the first episode, namely, when Larry wanted to throw Duck out because he thought Duck had been bitten, and how you reacted to that at that time. Eventually, you will have to choose.

[TOUGH DECISION #3]

  1. Helping Lily save her Dad.
  2. Helping Kenny keep Larry from turning.
  3. Not doing anything.

Larry will die no matter what you do, so your decision will affect only Lilly and Kenny's behavior in this and the following episodes, and with regard to that it is a very important choice, especially if earlier you did everything against Kenny - if you side with him now, Kenny will again want to give you a ride in his RV (see episode 3). Before you can choose, Kenny will remind you of what happened in the first episode, namely, when Larry wanted to throw Duck out of the pharmacy.

Helping Lilly

Look to the right and click on Lilly to help her. Lee will start to reanimate Larry. Try to do the heart massage as long as possible. If you manage to do it four times, Larry's lips will move... but then Kenny will throw a heavy salt lick on Larry's head.

Helping Kenny

Look to the left and click on Kenny to help him - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Look to the left and click on Kenny to help him. Your task is to hold Lilly down so that she won't prevent Kenny from killing her father. You must keep pressing the action button shown on the screen. Lilly will break free, so you will have to repeat the action. When you pull her away, Kenny will throw a heavy salt lick on Larry's head.

Not doing anything

Wait until you run out of time. Kenny will tell you that you are worthless. He will push Lilly away and kill Larry. It is treated as if you stood on Lilly's side, which means that Kenny will be as mad at you as if you attempted to side with her (see "Helping Lilly").

Summary

All the next conversations you will have (the first with Clementine, and, after regaining control of Lee, the conversations with Kenny and Lilly) will be completely different, which will depend on who you have just sided with (both what the characters will say and the answers you will be able to choose). It is worth adding that you can speak with Kenny several times while only once with Lilly. Still, your answers will not affect the gameplay in any way.

Apart from talking with Kenny and Lilly, you can also look at Clementine and Larry - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Apart from talking with Kenny and Lilly, you can also look at Clementine and Larry. First of all, however, examine the Air Conditioner on the right, high on the wall. Look closely at some Screws on the left and right, but do not try to unscrew them, as you won't manage anyway. You need a coin. Try to recall which of the characters in this episode said something about keeping some coins in his or her pocket?

Yes, it was Larry - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Yes, it was Larry. Ask Lilly about the coin (you can also ask Kenny, but it won't help). When Lee will remember that Larry had some coins, he will ask Lilly if he could search his body. Finally, Lilly will agree. You can find the coins in Larry's right pocket (meaning, the one on the left). In the remaining pockets there is his wife's wedding ring and a wallet, but none of those items will be useful.

Again, examine the Air Conditioner and note the two screws below it - Chapter 5: Too Much Salt Will Kill You | Episode II: Starved for Help - Episode II: Starved for Help - The Walking Dead Game Guide

Again, examine the Air Conditioner and note the two screws below it. Use the coins on each of them to unscrew them. Thanks to that you will take the cover off. Reply to Kenny, then to Clementine (your answers do not matter). After a while, you will be free.
