Chapter 3: Hit the Road | Episode III: Long Road Ahead The Walking Dead Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Go towards them and choose any of the options. Just talk to them until Lilly shoots their leader. Silence means death! Carley will kill two more, but at this point she will run out of ammo. Doug will manage to shoot only one bandit.
[PANIC EVENT: START]
(1) At this moment, the action begins and you have to be extremely accurate. Start by shooting at the fleeing bandit - one (if you saved Carley in the first episode), or two (if you saved Doug in the first episode). One bandit will manage to escape anyway.
(2) He will call his companions. You will be hidden behind the RV and your task will be to lean out in the right direction and shoot the bandits. You can zoom in and out by using an appropriate button. However, it is not essential. Remember that when the corners of the screen are getting too red you have to hide, otherwise you will be shot. On the other hand, you cannot let the bandits or zombies get to you, because you can die as well.
(3) First, lean out to the left. You need to shoot two bandits down. They will be hiding behind the cover - you can only see their heads. After a while they will start to come up to you. Once you've killed them, Ben and Carley will run into the RV.
(4) After the cutscene lean out to the right. Kill the two bandits hiding behind the cover (you can only see their heads). Wait until one runs out to the left and shoot him. After killing the three bandits there will be the next cutscene. Clementine will be safe.
(5) Unfortunately, Katjaa and Duck have been crushed by a zombie. Aim and shoot. If you do not save them, Kenny will.
(6) The last skirmish is with the zombies. You have to kill four. If you have Carley, she will take care of the left side while you will be able to kill the ones on the right (although you can cross to be on either side). If have Doug, you need to get rid of the zombies on both sides on your own (one or two on the left, then one or two on the right, etc.). Remember to aim at the head - one accurate shot will do to eliminate a zombie (if you aim at some other part you'll have to shoot as many as four times).
After a while, Lilly will run into the RV and you will leave the place. A conversation about who is responsible for giving the food to bandits will develop in the RV. Further events will differ depending on whether you saved Doug or Carley in the first episode.
If you have Carley
There will be several dialogues coming up. Your answer may be important. See the following tables.
3a. "You're in no position to make demands.?"
(1): Maybe it was her. | |
(2): Carley's trustworthy. | Carley will remember that. |
(3): Why her? | |
(4): ... |
After the dialogue, respond what you want to the next question - it does not matter. When you get off, decide whether Carley is really the one responsible for stealing the supplies.
4. "I think you should chill out."
(1): No way. It was somebody else. | - |
(2): I think she probably did it. | Carley won't forget that. |
(3): I'm not doing this. | - |
(4): ... | - |
Reply anything to the next two questions. Carley will remember the answer (Carley will remember that.) to the second question. Watch the cutscene. Using the moment when you're not looking, Lilly will shoot Carley. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to save this character. You will face the second difficult choice in the third episode. If you have Doug
There will be two dialogues coming up. Your answer may be important. See the following tables.
3b. "LOGICALLY? The new guy who could have EASILY been a plant? I think that's pretty LOGICAL, DOUG?"
(1): Why Ben? | - |
(2): Ben's a good guy. | Ben won't forget that. |
(3): No one's at fault. | - |
(4): ... | - |
After a while, respond to the second question or remain silent.
4b. "I know I don't wrapped in the politics around here, but we really need to think before we start stringing somebody up!"
(1): We need to act NOW. | You and Lilly agreed on this one. |
(2): Doug's right. | Everyone noticed that. |
(3): Let's just let him go. | You tried to let it go. |
(4): ... | You chose to remain silent on this. |
Once you get off, you'll be able to choose one answer.
5c. "I think you should chill out."
(1): No way. It was somebody else. | - |
(2): I think he probably did it. | You voted against Ben. |
(3): I'm not doing this. | - |
(4): ... | - |
It does not matter which replies you will choose in the following dialogues. Then watch the cutscene. It turns out that Lilly wants to shoot Ben, but Doug will move him and die instead. You will face the second difficult choice in the third episode. Leaving Lilly or taking her with you? Go to the "Summary" section below.
Summary
[TOUGH DECISION #2]
- Taking Lilly
- Leaving Lilly
Letting Lilly back on the RV will apparently result in unpleasant events in the next chapter. Later, however, it will turn out that it won't matter anyway. If you make Lilly stay behind, she'll start to run away from the zombies.
6. "GET IN. We're leaving this CRAZY BITCH."
(1): Get in and we'll figure out what to do with you. | You let Lilly back on the RV. |
(2): You're not coming with us. | You made Lilly stay behind. |
Regardless of what you replied, Lilly will tell everyone that before the apocalypse you had been convicted of murder. The companions' reaction to that news and further attitude towards you will depend on whether they have already heard that from you, or not. If, of course, you saved Doug in the first episode, you did not have such an option.
Anyway, after regaining control of Lee point at Katjaa and speak with her. You will learn that Duck was bitten. It does not matter what you'll answer. Kenny will refer to your past, and the way he will do it depends on whether you earlier told Kenny that you are a convicted murderer.
After the conversation you can look at Lilly and talk to Clementine. Do the latter. Your answers are irrelevant here.

After a while, keep pressing the button shown on the screen. Do not worry if you are not able to defend yourself.
[PANIC EVENT: END]
