Shadow of War: Which orc captains are best to recruit? Middle-earth: Shadow of War Guide
Last update: 20 December 2022
On this page of our guide for Middle-earth: Shadow of War we have included hints which orcs are best to recruit to the army commanded by Talion. The right choice of orcs can make it easier for you to play the game, specifically completing the missions and some optional activities.
The best way is to recruit every orc captain to your army. Especially in the fourth act where your army's lineup will be changing constantly. During one assault/defense you can lose most of your captains and that is why each orc is a valuable asset. However, there are certain classes that are better in fights and we present our types when it comes to which orcs should be taken to war:
- Tank. A class of armored warriors that can withstand a lot of damage and heal themselves. An Olog-hai Tank is especially valuable because he can also stun enemies.
- Berserker. Berserkers are killing machines that are very aggressive during battles. This certainly helps a lot because they charge at enemies and deal a lot of damage. These orcs can also knock their enemies down and keep attacking them.
- Slayer. Similarly to Berserkers, these orcs are great in battles. Feral Slayers, that use claws, are especially deadly. They can use these claws to knock down enemies and deal tremendous amount of damage.
- Commander. They can strengthen nearby orcs and they usually command a group of orcs/Olog-hai. This can't be topped because additional forces on a battlefield are always welcomed. Commanders are also a great choice for a Bodyguard. Recruiting a strong orc from this class and taking him on a fight with an Overlord is a very good idea.
- Beastmaster. This class is also useful in battles because orcs usually call Caragors that can cause a lot of troubles. However, battle capabilities of these orcs aren't that great.
You can also rely on orcs with shields and spears because they are great against enemy forces.
