Shadow of War: Game Length Middle-earth: Shadow of War Guide
Last update: 20 December 2022
On this page of the guide we have included information on how long it takes to complete Middle-earth: Shadow of War. You will learn how long it will take to complete the main campaign is, how long it may take to complete Shadow Wars, and how time-consuming it is to unlock the platinum trophy.
- Completing the main part of the campaign should take you about 20 hours. It consists of a prologue and three main acts/chapters that with the final boss battle. Completing all these stages will enable you to watch the first ending of the game.
- The fourth act is a long epilogue, which was initially called the Shadow Wars. In this act, you takes part in a series of demanding siege battles, both in offense and defense. The Shadow Wars initially involved a very long grind in order to complete all 10 stages and see the true ending. The situation changed when all microtransactions were removed from Shadow of War some time after launch and important changes in the game balance were introduced. This mode can now be completed faster and it is less demanding. Nevertheless, you are still expected to spend over 10 hours playing Shadow Wars.
- Getting the platinum shouldn't take much extra time after you've completed all the story missions and the epilogue / Shadow Wars. There will be some specific trophies for managing your orcs left, and achievements for reaching (easily accessible) collectibles. In total, it should take you about 40 hours to unlock the platinum trophy.
- Middle-earth: Shadow of War has two large story expansions - Blade of Galadriel and Desolation of Mordor. Each of these DLCs is able to extend the total gameplay time by several hours.
