Shadow of War: Using environmental objects Middle-earth: Shadow of War Guide
Last update: 20 December 2022
During your battles in Middle-earth: Shadow of War you can use environmental elements that can have an interesting effect on fights. On this page of our guide, you can find descriptions and possible uses of environmental objects:
- Meat. If you shoot meat down, it falls on ground and lures beasts. Depending on its size, you can lure a Caragor, a Graug or even a Drake. Monsters can start attacking enemies but you can dominate them and use as your mount.
- Caragor cages. If you shoot with your bow at a cage with a Caragor, you will free a beast. It will start attacking everyone around it. This is a good way of causing a small commotion but be careful ? a beast can attack you if there are no enemies around.
- Graug cages. They work in the same way as the ones above. However, here, you free a giant and powerful Graug.
- Barrels of Grog. Life of an orc is very stressful and because of that they like to relax by drinking grog. You can use that ? barrels are flammable, one arrow and a barrel will explode. You can also unlock an ability that allows you to poison grog from a distance which poisons orcs that drink from it.
- Campfire. When you unlock an ability that allows you to detonate objects, you will be able to cause an explosion that sets nearby enemies on fire.
- Morgai Flies. Aim at a flies' nest and shoot it. Flies will attack enemies that are around it. These enemies become stunned for a brief moment and won't be able to fight.
- Pile of barrels. Barrels are placed on top of one another. Shoot them and you will cause a huge explosion.
- Spiders' nests. If you destroy a spiders' nest, you lure out small spiders that start jumping and attacking enemies. Thanks to that you can create a small commotion and attack, e.g. an orc captain.
- Ghouls' nest. Destroying a ghouls' nest causes them to emerge from ground. They will attack everyone near them. These creatures aren't strong but they can detract attention away from you.
- Heavy objects. Usually, these objects hang on lines and they are begging you to shoot them down in a such way that they land on heads of enemies below them.
Using environmental objects is a key to success because they usually correlate with captains' weaknesses. It is recommended to have fights where you can, e.g. free a Graug, use him as a mount and break through a group of enemies. But watch out because using an environmental object is a double-edged sword, especially when you summon wild beasts. Plan your strategy ahead and lure enemies to places that can give you advantage.
