Shadow of War: Stealth attacks Middle-earth: Shadow of War Guide
Last update: 20 December 2022
Although enemies outnumber you in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, you have an element of surprise on your side so you should make a use of it. It is always a good idea to weaken enemy forces by using stealth attacks before you start a direct confrontation. On this page of our guide, you can find a few tips that can help you in becoming an effective assassin:
- Cape. Stealth allows you to move quietly and avoid being detected. Each cape that you can equip has a stat that indicates how hidden you are. A higher value means that you are more difficult to detect.
- Special attacks. You can perform many attacks while you are staying hidden. These attacks kill regular orcs and weaken captains greatly (provided that they aren't invulnerable to stealth attacks). Try to start a fight with a strong stealth attack. This will make a battle a little bit easier.
- Detection level. Enemies have a few states of being alarmed. Orcs that have no icons above their head don't know about your presence and will act normally. A yellow icon means that an enemy is suspecting something because, e.g. he saw you a moment before. A red icon means that an enemy found you and will start attacking Talion. Disappear from their sight for a moment. After that they can stop chasing you and will go back to their usual activities.
- Wraith-world. By pressing the right button, you activate Wraith-world in which you can scout the area. Enemies are highlighted with red and objects that you can interact with will become blue. In this mode you can also identify captains and learn about their strong and weak sides. But be careful - you can still be detected in this mode.
- Last known location. An enemy saw you but you disappeared from his sight. When you did that, Celebrimbor left a ghost in the place where you were noticed. That place will be searched by an enemy. You can use that to your advantage and, e.g. kill that enemy or go to a safe place.
- Luring/distracting enemies. While you are hidden, you can press the right button and lure an enemy. That orc starts to slowly follow a source of noise - you can use this to kill that enemy. A useful trick that allows you to lure enemies one by one. This can also be done with your bow - select a place to which you want to lure an enemy and, e.g. pass them by undetected.
