Shadow of War: Abilities based on Might and Elven Rage Middle-earth: Shadow of War Guide

Last update: 20 December 2022

This page of our guide for Middle-earth: Shadow of War contains descriptions of unique powers. Additionally, we explain what Elven Rage is and how to activate it.

Might

Your character can use powerful abilities that can wreak havoc in orc armies. However, in order to use more powerful abilities, you must use Might, which is gained through successful attacks.

Might bar can be found above the health bar and the minimap. When the bar is full, you can use it to perform the following abilities:

By using Might you can perform powerful executions that take a lot of health (and sometimes even heads) of your enemies. - Shadow of War: Abilities based on Might and Elven Rage - Combat - Middle-earth: Shadow of War Game Guide
By using Might you can perform powerful executions that take a lot of health (and sometimes even heads) of your enemies.
  1. Execution. When you press the right combination, your character will perform a spectacular execution that deals a lot of damage to single enemies. Weaker orcs die immediately and more powerful ones lose a lot of health.
  2. Drain skill. During fights, you can immediately drain life from a single enemy and regenerate your own. This is a very good way of healing yourself during battles, especially in the later parts of the game.
  3. Mighty shot. Press the right button in ranged combat mode to shoot an explosive arrow. This attack is very useful, especially when, e.g. you are being chased by a large group of enemies.
  4. Elven light. You can stun and blind nearby enemies. This ability can save your life many times, e.g. when you want to run away from enemies.

Remember, that received damage and missed attacks reduce Might, however, it won't deplete on its own over time. New points, that can be spent on abilities, allow you to modify them and change their function.

Elven Rage

Elven Rage is helpful during more difficult fights. - Shadow of War: Abilities based on Might and Elven Rage - Combat - Middle-earth: Shadow of War Game Guide
Elven Rage is helpful during more difficult fights.

Early in the game, Talion gets access to Elven Rage which is the ultimate and very powerful ability that should be used in key moments. When Eleven Rage is active it slows down time and you will be able to perform an unlimited number of executions.

In addition to that, you can also instantly kill enemies with normal attacks. When it comes to captains, you have to find an enemy and then press and hold attack button in order to deal massive damage.

When you activate this ability, you also get access to unlimited amount of Might and you will be able to shoot your bow without any restrictions. However, you must remember that Elven Rage lasts only a moment so you should focus your attention on a biggest threat.
