Microsoft Flight Simulator: Climb Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 guide, tips
Last update: 02 September 2020
In this section of the Flight Simulator game guide we describe the rules for safe climb to the scheduled cruising altitude. We explain the different types of speeds during the climb and how to trim the aircraft properly.
If you are on the right course you can continue the climb to the target altitude - in this case it is about 6,000 ft.
1 - Pull the steer slightly up so that the aircraft is facing at a very small upward angle.
2 - Pay close attention to instruments and trim! Maintain a speed of about 60-70 knots, and vertical speed of 300-500 feet per minute. The orange line on the artificial horizon should not exceed a short 10-degree line.
It can take a very long time to reach the designated altitude, so it's crucial at this point to trim the plane. Use the Nose Up trimmer to position the aircraft to maintain the degree and speed of climb. With the right trimming, you will be able to let go of the steer, and the aircraft will maintain these parameters with slight deviations to plus and minus. The default trimmer keys are 7 and 1 on the numeric keypad.
3 - Once you're over 3,000 feet, you'll probably have to reduce the fuel mix a little bit. Pull the lever back a few percent. Watch the engine's power to see if it's starting to lose it.
