Penalties in Gran Turismo Sport Gran Turismo Sport Guide, Tips
Last update: 11 July 2018
Sometimes you will get a time penalty, whether by your fault or not. This is a list of fouls:
- Hit other cars;
- Hitting the band at high speed;
- Cutting the corner too tightly over the grass or curb;
- Overtaking during the yellow flag (accident on the track);
- Sometimes it is being hit by another car (unfortunately - the game does not always identify the culprit well).
Penalties can range from small, few-seconds values, to even 10-15 seconds for hitting someone at high speed. Penalties can accumulate even above one minute - if you do not try to level them at such a value - you will be disqualified and kicked out from the race
The command on the screen will order you to slow down for a certain number of seconds, but do not do it right away - especially on straight lines at full speed. If there are a lot of laps until the end, the punishment will usually diminish "itself" while you are taking the slowest curves. If the finish line is close, slow down a bit more in the slowest sections of the track. Passing the finish line with a partially reduced penalty is not the best idea, because the system rounds up seconds and instead of 3 on the counter you can count 5. During the race, watch out for smug drivers who are braking quickly and wanting to get rid of the penalty - you can easily hit them. Currently, the worst and unjust are the penalties for overtaking when the yellow flag is on - it indicates a crash on the track. Often, you can get a penalty only for passing a car scrambling on the shoulder of the track - unfortunately, you can't do anything with that.
