Go to the pit stop or not in Gran Turismo Sport? Gran Turismo Sport Guide, Tips

Last update: 11 July 2018

In the daily races for 10 laps and the FIA tournaments accelerated tire wear and gas consumption are enabled so that you can't get to the finish line without taking appropriate actions. Hence, you need some strategy added to the race.

  1. Drive as fast as possible and at the end, when you're running out of gas, get off the track to the pit-stop for refueling and tires replacement. This allows you to go every lap as fast as you can, but also makes you lose the most time in the pit-stop.
  2. Refueling only - ending the race on the same tires. You can just go to refuel your car. This lets you save some time during the stop, but the last laps will be much slower than those of the drivers with fresh tires.
  3. You can give up the pit stop altogether, but then you are forced to change the fuel supply in the car at the beginning (you can regulate it freely while driving). A poor mixture will ensure low consumption of fuel, but you will have to forget about overtaking. Skillful driving without wearing out tires allows you to fight for a good place, though.

HUD on the screen will inform you when the critical amount of fuel will be in the tank, you can also monitor it yourself by calling the appropriate option on the HUD. When you get off to the pit-stop, usually you'll drive by very winding and narrow road. Right after entering you have to decide whether to change tires (only one mix will be available in Sport mode), and then you have to decide how much fuel to refuel, signaling the end of the whole process. The amount of fuel is given in laps, so adjust it to the number of laps left till the end. Some cars or driving style can cause more consumption so refueling barely enough, would not be enough the fraction of a second needed to refuel a small excess will always be shorter than getting off for the next refueling. Also remember that waiting for the last minute with a pit stop means that more laps are passing on worn-out tires, so they're much slower.

If you have less fuel than the number of laps, you can change the type of mixture and reduce the consumption. When adjusting the fuel mixture, bear in mind that extreme values can affect the lap time even by a few seconds! Which of the three strategies best suits us, or more importantly - which is the most effective on a particular track - you must convince ourselves by testing them all. For beginners, the first option will be the best though.

By regulating the richness of the fuel mixture, you can stay on track longer, but at the expense of lap times. - Go to the pit stop or not in Gran Turismo Sport? - Races - Practical advice - Gran Turismo Sport Game Guide
