The third installment in the acclaimed Total War strategy game series developed by Creative Assembly. This time, the player is taken to the period during which the Roman Empire is in its prime. The player participates in historical events, such as the Spartacus slave uprising, the Punic Wars, or Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul. The creators faithfully recreated such historical elements as different military units, machines and technologies the ancient nations depended on. As usual, the gameplay is divided into two phases. The player makes large-scope decisions in the turn-based mode featuring the world map - for example, concerning technological development, diplomacy, development of cities or army management. The battles, on the other hand, are played in real time and the player commands particular formations or individual units. Rome: Total War includes the features introduced by the previous installments, such as sieges of cities, reconnaissance or reserves. Apart from the single-player campaign, the game offers multiplayer for up to 8 competitors.

Finding the balance between expenses and earnings is the key to success, and taking advantage of a political situation and sympathy of influential people helps as well. Domina offers various types of battles – some based on fair duels, others made to hinder our warriors as much as possible. All of this is presented with pixel-art visuals, complemented by a fitting soundtrack.

The first of the planned expansion packs for a strategy game developed by Creative Assembly. The expansion is set in the years 58-51 BC and focuses on the titular figure's fight against Gallic tribes. Shortening the time period encompassed by the game resulted in a change to the turn system - instead of 12 months, one turn lasts here 2 weeks. Consequently, seasonal division returns, randomly affecting the course of the playthrough. The new campaign is complemented by new factions added, including the Nervii, the Arverni and the Suebi; also, previously unavailable units were added. Apart from that, the mechanics behind the in-game challenges were altered, a new historical battle was added and a greater emphasis was placed on figures such as Julius Caesar or Marcus Antonius.

Initially, the title was supposed to be a mod for Age of Empires II but eventually it was ported to a new engine and made available as a standalone production. The main goal of its creators was to present the most important civilizations that existed on Earth between the 5th century BC to the 5th century AD. In 0 A.D., we take part in a completely fictional conflict, although the game stays faithful to history in terms of weapons, buildings, and so on. The gameplay involves controlling a nation of our choosing and developing it throughout centuries. The player has to erect buildings, produce food, and acquire resources necessary for expansion. Apart from these, we also have to prepare for potential wars by recruiting soldiers that will repel enemy invasions or conquer nearby settlements or cities.

Above others, the game places even bigger emphasis on famous personas, each of them has their own personality and can prove indispensable to player’s actions. A spin-off of the popular Europa Universalis series, based on the engine and mechanics from the third installment, released in 2007. In contrast to every previous installment, Europa Universalis: Rome takes us to Antiquity, concentrating on the Roman Empire from 280 B.C. to 27 B.C. – from the First Punic War up to the birth of the grand Roman Empire. When it comes to mechanics, the gameplay isn’t at all different from what we could've seen in the other major entries of the series. During the game, we assume control of a chosen faction, taking care of its culture, religion, treasury, military forces, technological advancement, or diplomatic contacts. There are 50 playable factions at the player’s disposal, belonging to one of nine great cultures of that time, including Celts, Goths, Egyptians, and Romans. As a trademark of the series, each nation’s unique traits were carefully recreated, including historical dependencies that influence the events in the Antique world.

The second DLC for 2013's Total War: Rome II (Creative Assembly). The second Punic war is the general theme of the expansion; the conflict between Rome and Carthage took place in the third century BC. Importantly, the war was also a conflict of two outstanding commanders - Scipio Africanus and Hannibal, a sworn enemy of Rome. The expansion brings a new campaign which is set in the western part of the mediterranean basin, in the years 218-202 BC (each year lasts 12 turns). The new map is smaller, but more detailed than in the core game; it comprises 19 provinces in total. Apart from the two main factions, the DLC also offers Syracuse, as well as Iberian tribes - the Arevaci and Lusitani. All of these factions were given their own combat units and technology trees. Additionally, both Rome and Carthage have an additional branch of development, which focuses on diplomacy.
