Ancient Arenas: Chariots is an original economic manager strategy game about chariot racing. Game was developed by Polish studio CreativeForge Games and published by Slitherine.

Game mechanics

Ancient Arenas: Chariots allows us both to play the role of the owner of the team fighting for victory in the arenas scattered around the Roman empire, and to take the reins in our hands and participate in the races by ourselves.

If we play the first role, all the issues related to the functioning of the racing team rest on our shoulders. After joining the chosen faction (we can become horse masters, craftsmen or trainers of coachmen), we breed mounts and prepare them to participate in races, train the so-called Aurigas (coachmen), as well as modify and improve the chariots, based on the latest technological solutions. With each victory, our team gradually moves up the racing career ladder. We can use the funds gained with successive victories to expand our estate, which over time becomes a better place to train, research and... asking the gods for mercy in subsequent competitions.

As for the races themselves - the title allows us to decide whether we want to give orders to the coachmen and watch the battle for victory in relative peace, or we prefer to sit in the chariot on our own, taking all the glory for victory or full responsibility for eventual defeat.

Technical aspects

Graphics in Ancient Arenas: Chariots looks average at best. Although the races take place in quite realistic-looking clouds of dust, the spectators sitting in the stands or even the arenas themselves do not show off their detail.
