Starship Corporation PC

Starship Corporation for PC is an economic science fiction strategy game. It is the debut project of the independent studio, Ratakari.

Gameplay

The player takes control over a large corporation which produces and sells spaceships. The virtual alter-ego of the player is a merciless capitalist who doesn’t care who has the moral right or what will be the effects of the galactic conflicts. Instead of that, all that matters to him is profit. Starship Corporation is a very complex title which allows controlling the whole production process, from first projects, through tests and montage, to introducing the units to the market.

Each ship starts its life on the design table. The designed machines can have multi floors and consist of fifty types of rooms divided into four categories. When creating a ship, one must make sure that it has adequate power and deck systems. Correctly created unit can be used in missions during which each aspect of the project is tested. Based on that, the ship receives a grade which determines how much is it worth on the free market. The effectiveness of a ship during a test mission is determined not only by the project but by the crew of the ship as well. Because of that, one should hire the best possible pilots, engineers, soldiers and medical personnel and then control them during space missions, emergencies, boarding and medical crises. The abilities of the crew and ship’s artificial intelligence can be improved by special training which prepares them for every situation that can happen during mission.

The corporation of the player has a giant space dockyard. Later in the game one will use it to simultaneously construct many different units not all of which will be giant cruisers. The corporation also receives orders for creating small shuttles, giant space tankers, tourist ships, mining ships, terraforming ships and of course military units. Trading is important in the game. The virtual galaxy is living its own life and minor and major conflicts are starting and ending constantly. The player should use these conflicts to increase his profits. When creating trade roads, one must consider where the conflicts that could endanger the safety of transported goods take place. In addition to singleplayer mode, the game offers multiplayer as well, in which the game takes place in a giant virtual galaxy shaped by the actions of the players.
