Summa Expeditionis PC

Summa Expeditionis is a production from the borderline of survival and strategy games. The production was developed by independent studio Lobico Games, while its creation was made possible, among other things, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Historical realities

Summa Expeditionis takes us to the 1st century BC, when Rome was ruled by Octavian Augustus. During the gameplay, we play the role of a legionnaire who arrives in the wild north of the Iberian Pen insula with the task of exploring the area, setting up a fortified camp there and, consequently, subjugating to Rome the Cantabr?w, the last of the barbarian tribes inhabiting the territory, so far still maintaining their independence.

Gameplay

In Summa Expeditions, the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). Exploration of the vast land , which is procedurally generated, gives us the opportunity to acquire resources that ensure our survival.

Resources, construction and crafting

The animals we hunt provide a source of food. Natural resources, on the other hand, allow us to deal with the erection of a military camp (its location is chosen by ourselves), with buildings for various purposes, tents for soldiers and fortifications to ensure its defensibility. Besides, we need resources to build production chains and manufacture equipment - from weapons to tools.

Soldiers and combat

As the area is swarming with barbarians, we often come to fight. During real-time skirmishes, we command legionaries, whom we recruit as we progress. Soldiers eliminate enemies by fighting at close quarters (using gladi?es or triggers, among others) or at a distance (using bows).

Defeated enemies can be killed to get rid of the threat from them once and for all, or enslaved and put to work for the glory of Rome. You can also assign your soldiers to guard duty in the camp. At the same time it's worth monitoring their morale, as it determines their effectiveness.

If we do all this well, over time our superiors will begin to appreciate our efforts and promote us in the military hierarchy, the final rung of which is the position of centurion.
