Action games. Wide category of games that require reflex, accuracy and agility. It includes, among other things, shooters (e.g. Call of Duty and Battlefield series) and action-adventure games (Tomb Raider). First and third person perspective (FPP/TPP) is used. In most cases we are playing as a character who has to defeat some enemies and reach a specific point. We can use a wide range of weapons, including pistols, rocket launchers, swords, knives and like. Action-adventure is a particular category within action games genre. Such titles put less emphasis on action and combat, focusing more on story, exploration and puzzles.

Underground is the first paid expansion that comes as a part of the season pass for The Division, a multiplayer online action game by Ubisoft Massive. Initially, the DLC was made available for Xbox One and after a month-long period of exclusivity, it came out for other platforms: PC and PlayStation 4. The division is a political thriller the action of which takes place in a plague-torn New York.
The Terminator: SkyNET

The plot of the game continues the threads started in The Terminator: Future Shock, and while having fun we again stand on the side of the resistance movement, trying to destroy the criminal artificial intelligence of Skynet, which with the use of nuclear weapons intends to blast humanity from the surface of the Earth.
Wild Guns: Reloaded

An extensive remake of Wild Guns, a classical action game that was initially released in 1994 for SNES. It was developed by Natsume in cooperation with the creators of the original. The game’s plot combines elements of western with science fiction and cyberpunk and tells the story of two protagonists: a girl named Annie, who wishes to take revenge on the Kid’s gang, and a bounty hunter, Clint, helping her. Mechanics-wise, it is a combination of arcade rail shooter and a third-person action game.
The Unspoken

An online action game focused on PvP competition, developed with virtual reality in mind. The Unspoken was created by Insomniac Games, the creators of Sunset Overdrive, Fuse, and the Ratchet & Clank series, among other things. The Unspoken is set in a world that bears resemblance to the present with the only difference being that magic exists, and it's incredibly spectacular. The players assume the role of mages who fight each other in one on one fights organized by an ancient order.
Song of the Deep

An arcade, metroidvania genre action game developed by Insomniac Games studio, known for, among others, Sunset Overdrive, and series such as Spyro, or Rachet & Clank. In Song of the Deep, we assume the role of Merryn, whose father has disappeared during a fishing trip. When one day she has a dream that her father has been imprisoned in the sea depths, the little heroine decides to build a small submarine and embark on a rescue mission.
IS Defense

A first-person rail shooter developed by Destructive Creations, a Polish studio known for the controversial Hatred. The action of IS Defense takes us to the year 2020, when Europe is attacked by the Islamic State. The players assume the role of a NATO soldier who operates a heavy machine gun, and their task is to eliminate advancing enemies. As far as gameplay is concerned, the production is inspired by the genre’s classics and such titles as Beach Head 2000.
Suicide Squad: Special Ops

A mobile first-person perspective shooter based on the movie Suicide Squad which, in turn, was based on the popular comic series Suicide Squad. The story of the game is loosely based on the plot of the movie. However, it is just an excuse for the actual gameplay. During the game the player assumes the role of one of the members of the titular Suicide Squad, a secret task force consisting of supervillains forced into submission.
Quake Champions

Another installment of the legendary series of first-person shooters developed by id Software. The series became very popular mostly thanks to its great and well-balanced multiplayer modes. Quake Champions concentrates on that aspect of the gameplay and lacks a classic campaign mode. Instead, it features dynamic gameplay for many players. The matches are played in a few varied PvP modes.

A science fiction 2D side-scroll beat 'em up game with role-playing elements by Japanese studio OneorEight. The plot is focused on an invasion of hostile aliens, who destroy everything in their path and are completely resistant to traditional weaponry. When scientists discover that the aliens can only be harmed with weapons based on their own technology, a special team is created. Its task is to stop the invaders, and you play as one of its members.
MilitAnt

An arcade 2.5D action game developed by Mexican studio Xibalba that tells the tale of highly-advanced insects. MilitAnt takes place in a fantasy world inspired by such movies as Ant Z and A Bug’s Life. However, the title was developed for older players. The main protagonist is an ant who protects its home from an invasion of merciless termites that attack the ant colony in search for precious crystals - an irreplaceable energy source.
Battlerite

An online battle game that combines the features of MOBA and action genres. Battlerite was developed by Swedish studio Stunlock, the creators of Bloodline Champions and Dead Island: Epidemic. The game is focused on fast, intensive battles of two small teams of players. Each participant controls one character selected from a roster of unique warriors. During the game the protagonists are gaining experience and unlock new abilities.
Tiger Knight

An MMO game featuring elements of action, real-time strategy and role-playing. The game was created by NetDragon; it is a free-to-play title that uses microtransactions. Tiger Knight: Empire War is set in the second century AD. The player picks a side and assumes the role of a general - the game features Rome, the Parthian Empire, the Kushan Empire and the Chinese Han dynasty - those were the largest empires of the period. The gameplay formula was based on two pillars.

An FPP action game with stealth elements, developed by indie studio The Outsiders. The game is set in the alternative Middle Ages, where Scandinavia is inhabited not only by Vikings, but also by a forgotten race of sapient beasts. You play as one such creature, observing how it grows up into a ferocious predator. At first, Project Wight seems like a stealth game, as the beast is weak and cannot fight, so it has to sneak past enemies and hide in places humans are unable to reach.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered is a remaster of the cult FPP shooter, developed by Night Dive. Many changes were made in the game: visuals, interface, gameplay mechanics, etc. The game now runs on Kex Engine 3.4, the enemies' A.I. was improved (now they can attack in groups and run away if required) and so was the character's movement (i.e. the hero can now climb onto some of the environmental elements).
Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash

In Peach Beach Splash, the female ninja adepts take part in a water gun tournament – the victorious team will have its single wish granted. The players are given a wide arsenal consisting of ten types of weapons, each equipped with two firing modes that can be switched at will.

A group of supernatural phenomenon researchers is dispatched to investigate an abandoned Victorian residence, which is said to feature certain anomalies. River City: Rival Showdown

A new installment in the Kunio-kun series of classic beat ’em up games developed by Arc System Works. Once again, the player assumes the role of Kunio. He is tasked with finding Riki's missing girlfriend and solving the mystery related to the thugs that attacked him. While playing River City: Rival Showdown, the player is constantly moving to the right and fighting legions of enemies. In the battles the player uses fists, legs and acquired weapons to attack the enemies.
Doom VFR

A first-person shooter developed by id Software for VR headsets. The player is taken to a UAC facility which is overrun by demons, and assumes the role of a sole survivor of their attack. After death, the protagonist’s consciousness is transferred to a computer matrix which allows him to take control of the robots present on site. The task he has to perform is to annihilate all hellish creatures and stop an incoming catastrophe.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Frozen Wilds

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is the first DLC for Guerilla Games’ successful third-person action game Horizon Zero Dawn, where humanity is on the brink of extinction and fights for survival against mechanical beasts. This DLC takes us to a frigid area that lies beyond the mountain ridge in the far north of the game’s world and borders with the lands of the Banuk tribe. A new threat arises there and Aloy, the game's protagonist, must face it.
Star Child

A 2.5D platformer in which players play Spectra - a young girl trying to stop an ominous force threatening the existence of the whole world. As we play, we travel through different locations, jump over platforms and fight enemies, making use of the unique abilities of the protagonist, who is able to take control of the environment. The title was created with the goggles of virtual reality in mind, and is characterized by eye-catching graphics maintained in cartoon style.
