Why games avoid contemporary armed conflicts – political corectness or industry's immaturity?
Video games allow us to experience, whether truthfully or not, frontlines of the past and the future alike. But why are there so few video games dealing with present-day wars? Why do developers seem to consistently avoid this subject?

IS Defense Description
IS Defense for PC is the second production by Destructive Creations known for the 2015’s controversial shooter entitled Hatred. The title is a kind of a modern clone of Beach Head 2000, a remake of the 1985’s Beach Head.
Story
The action of IS Defense takes us to the year of 2020 when Europe is attacked by the Islamic State. The players assume the role of a NATO soldier who operates a heavy machine gun, and their task is to eliminate advancing enemies.
Gameplay
IS Defense for PC is a simple first-person shooter in which we cannot move as we please through the available locations. Instead, we keep firing a mounted powerful machine gun and a rocket launcher (for destroying vehicles) from a mobile position. Moreover, the players can also make use of reinforcements, although their scale depends on how long we can operate without any help. Starting out, we may only call soldiers that assist us but our options grow more powerful as we kill more enemies. Later on, it might even be, for example, an airstrike or a chopper that flies over the location and fires at our foes from above. Furthermore, supply drops, which give us access to additional rockers and first aid packs, are also available. The game continuously adjusts the difficulty level to the player’s skill.
The basic version of IS Defense offers three arenas where we fight for the best score. At the beginning, we are given access to one of them, while the remaining ones are unlocked after achieving the required result. The whole is complemented by a simple character development system; as we play, we gather experience points which can be spent on better abilities such as increased fire rate or higher amount of crates in supply drops.
Technical aspects
Destructive Creations’ game is powered by the popular Unreal Engine 4, which has previously been used in such projects as Fable Legends, Fortnite, or Final Fantasy VII Remake. IS Defense for PC has partially destructible maps so the battlefield changes dynamically; for example, car wrecks limit visibility due to the smoke they emit.
The game’s soundtrack was composed by Adam Skorupa, who also worked on Hatred and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, among other titles.
