The Conjuring House is an action adventure game following the convention of horror classics. The PC release of the game has been developed by an independent studio called Rym Games established by former Ubisoft employees. The creators drew their inspirations for the game from the literary works of H.P. Lovecraft.
Plot
The action of The Conjuring House is set at the beginning of the 20th century. A group of supernatural researchers is dispatched to investigate an abandoned Victorian house, which is said to feature certain anomalies. Also involved is the main protagonist of the game – a journalist responsible for documenting the entire process. When the team of specialists vanishes, the responsibility of solving the mystery of the dark mansion falls onto the main protagonist.
Mechanics
In The Conjuring House for PC, a player observes the action from the first person perspective (FPP). The titular mansion is haunted by an evil entity manifesting itself in the form of demons, wraiths, and monsters taken directly from terrifying nightmares. The grim atmosphere of the game is escalated by the occult symbols and altars set up for disturbing rituals.
Because the main protagonist is completely vulnerable, in order to survive, he has to hide from his adversaries and sneak past them, however, sometimes the only choice he is left with is to run for it. When exploring this terrifying place, he also has to solve more or less complex environmental puzzles.
Technical aspects
The Conjuring House features high-quality visuals based on the Unreal Engine 4 technology, which allowed developers to design detailed surroundings. Players are bound to appreciate the realistic lighting effects. The audio layer of the game is crucial when it comes to building up the atmosphere, especially with its dedicated soundtrack.
