Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered is a remaster of the cult FPP shooter, developed by Night Dive. Many changes were made in the game: visuals, interface, gameplay mechanics, etc. The game now runs on Kex Engine 3.4, the enemies' A.I.
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered for PC and XONE is a remastered version of one of the classic first-person shooters of the 90s. Night Dive, who also created the remaster of the first Turok game, developed it. Originally, Iguana developed Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.
The Plot
We play as Joshua Fireseed, a dinosaur hunter who ends up in the world known as the Lost Land – a place where time stood still. The land’s was possible thanks to the imprisonment of a mighty creature known as Primagen, who now awakes and comes back to life. It manipulated the local primitives into destroying the totems that hold her prison. If they succeed, Primagen will be free and the whole world will be destroyed. Our goal is to prevent that and destroy Primagen once and for all.
Mechanics
In terms of gameplay, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered for PC and XONE did not change that much since the 1998 launch of the original game. The game is still a fine FPS where we explore six maps and face 35 types of enemies. There are 20 types of weapons at our disposal. We can also ride a cannon-equipped dinosaur.
There were some changes however. Seeds of Evil Remastered has a completely new interface and improved movement mechanics, which makes Joshua move faster. The movement is overall more fluid. The dinosaur hunter can now climb on some platforms.
A.I. of the enemies was also improved. Now, they can attack in groups, use covers, and run away if necessary. Additionally, they have their own damage system, meaning that the damage we deal to them depends on which part of their bodies we hit. Quicksave option was also included along with the possibility to teleport to the previously visited portals.
Game Modes
The original game released in the 90’s had different multiplayer options depending on which platform you played (PC or Nintendo 65). The multiplayer of the remaster takes what was best in both of them. It also introduces a new mode, Last Turok Standing, where the last surviving player wins.
Multiplayer can be played online, through LAN, or on splitscreen.
Technical Aspects
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil Remastered for PC and XONE uses a new game engine, Kex Engine 3.4. The game now supports 64-bit systems, has better shadows, more advanced lighting, new visual effects, and dynamic reflections.
