A spin-off of the Senran Kagura series and a third-person shooter that sees us take part in water battles. In Peach Beach Splash, the female ninja adepts take part in a water gun tournament – the victorious team will have its single wish granted. The players are given a wide arsenal consisting of ten types of weapons, each equipped with two firing modes that can be switched at will.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash for PC and PS4 is a colorful shooter that sees the return of the female heroines taking part in a water gun tournament. Peach Beach Splash is the fifth entry in the Senran Kagura series, launched in 2011 with a mobile release for Nintendo 3DS. Apart from the continuation of the previous title, the other entries in the Senran Kagura series were released on PlayStation consoles and PCs (Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, and Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus). The title in question was developed by Honey Parade Games, a game development studio established by Kenichiro Takaki, the author of the related manga and other installments of the series.

Plot

The story of Peach Beach Splash takes place after the events seen in Estival Versus. The heroines – female adepts of various ninja schools – are enjoying their summer vacations. Unexpectedly, all of them receive an invitation to a water gun tournament that prohibits the use of their ninja powers. The team decides to take part in the competition, as the winner of the tournament will have its single wish granted. As always, the plot unravels through animated cut-scenes and visual novel segments seen throughout the game.

Mechanics

The action is seen from a third-person perspective. The new installment in the series is a third-person shooter, but the player is left with water guns only. The available arsenal contains ten weapons, including a shotgun, a sub-machine gun, or even a grenade launcher; each weapon has an alternative fire mode.

The authors have introduced thirty characters, each equipped with three unique abilities. The battles take place on complex three-dimensional arenas. Depending on the current situation, the heroines can serve as both offensive and defensive characters, provided the player does not run out of health points which quickly diminish under enemy fire.

Game Modes

The game offers an extensive single player campaign that sees us take part in a multitude of sporting events and water battles. Moreover, we have a number of multiplayer modes, including 5v5 battles.

Technical Aspects

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash for PC and PS4 employs a three-dimensional engine that was used in Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, offering full HD resolutions at 60 frames per second. As a somewhat of a trademark of the series, we get access to a large number of alternative costumes and accessories that are unlocked in the course of the campaign.
