Although Fallout 76 has been completely redesigned compared to its predecessors and the gameplay offers a completely different experience, one thing remains unchanged - the postapocalyptic world is tremendously dangerous. This following page contains useful tips on how to get started and will help you to find yourself on the game servers. We have touched upon many aspects of the game - fighting, money (caps) and experience, completing tasks or exploring locations. Using a number of tips and tricks is a great way to start enjoying the game.

Collect everything

Even common plants can be sold or processed.

It is not without a reason that this advice is at the top of the list. Collecting whatever you can is best applied from the very beginning of the game. Any "garbage" can be useful - some will be used for crafting, while others you can simply sell. Of course, your character has limited weight capacity, so you will have to visit a merchant from time to time (in the towns you will find robots that will be happy to buy back the items you have collected). You can also invest some points in the Strength attribute, which will increase your load capacity. Perks that reduce the weight of some items are also useful.

Use melee weapons

Despite what it may seem, an axe is a viable tool for dismantling robots.

A hand-to-hand combat weapon is ideal at the beginning of the game (and in later stages of the game also if you develop your character in this direction). Initial opponents are not very strong. Instead of losing ammunition on weak enemies, take an axe or a pickax and deal with them up close. Remember to keep moving to make it harder for enemies to hit you. Of course, if you have to face a large group of enemies, it's better to soften them from a distance and only then move on to close combat.

Do not fear death

After death, you can respawn in one of the earlier discovered locations.

Death in Fallout 76 is not as terrible as it may seem. Of course we don't suggest you die thoughtlessly, but even if something goes wrong, you won't lose too much. Only the least valuable items, the so-called junk, will drop out of your equipment. Then, you can use the world map to be reborn in a location you've discovered earlier and go to the place of death - this way you will recover your lost things.

You don't lose anything after you leave the game

Feel free to exit the game in any moment - all data will be saved.

You don't have to be afraid to leave the game either. When you leave the server, all changes will be saved - items looted or experience gained. When you return to the game you will find your weapons, your character will have the same level, and you will start the game in the vicinity of the location next to which you have left the game (the starting location may vary slightly, but these are small changes).

However, it is worth noting whether you have reached the control point during the specific quest. More complex tasks are divided into several stages, and there are some checkpoints between them. If you leave the game without reaching the checkpoint, you will lose progress in the quest. However, there is no reason to be afraid - checkpoints appear very often.

How to recognize enemies?

The red ones are enemies. Easy to remember.

Sometimes it is difficult to judge whether a character is friendly or hostile to us. For example - some robots would like to murder you, and others prefer to talk for a while. That's why it's a good idea to use the crosshair. If you look over a character, you will see its name - if it is red, it means that it is your opponent. It works from quite a long distance - even before you can be noticed by enemies.

Start and Complete Quests

Use the map to find mission objectives fast.

Although the game automatically covers us with different tasks, the exploration may draw us so much that we forget to carry out the quests and missions that await the player. However, it's sometimes a good idea to take a break from constant sightseeing in order to complete several tasks. This is a great way to gain experience, money (caps) and various types of items. From many missions you will receive stimpaks and antirads, and these are extremely useful items that are able to save you from oppression.

Take part in world events

All events are marked on the map, and if you approach them, you will receive some additional info about every event.

Events are auto-random missions in which all players on the server can take part. If you open the map, you will certainly see a few events on it. All you have to do is to get close to the marked place and the game automatically assigns you to the event. You won't get any consequences if you skip an event, but it's very profitable to perform such unique quests. As with normal tasks, you'll get a lot of useful items when you're done. Events are also a great opportunity to cooperate with other players, because they usually consist of repelling hordes of enemies.

Pay attention to supply drop points

If you take part in randomly generated events, don't forget about randomly dropped stashes with supplies. If you see a red trail (such as in the picture above), go there as soon as possible. In these boxes and containers you will find ammunition, stimpacks, and even weapons.

Remember to eat and drink regularly

Pay attention if hunger and thirst indicators are not red.

Even the biggest macho of the wilderness has to eat and drink something. In the lower right corner of the screen you will find bars with a cutlery and water symbols - these are indicators of hunger and thirst. You have to take care of them all the time - eat food and drink a lot. Otherwise, you will get penalties that make it harder to play - fewer action points or constantly decreasing health. Remember, however, that most of the items you use will increase your level of radioactivity. The food should be fried first and the water has to be boiled. All this may take place at bonfires scattered around the game world.

Watch out for radiation

Most of the Fallout 76 water reservoirs is contaminated.

Radioactive waste is the everyday life of the postapocalyptic world - you have to watch out for it. Radiated food, enemies or water - all this raises the level of radioactivity of your hero. Accepting the rads makes the level of your maximum health much lower. If you consume something radiated or stay in a radiated area, the Geiger counter in the Pip-Boy will start to emit a characteristic sound, and a red bar will appear on the health bar informing you about the amount of radiation you are taking.

To reduce the number of radiation of your body you can take Rad-X or wear a radiation resistant armor. However, if you have already been badly radiated, you must use the Anti-Rad. For detailed information on radiation, please refer to the "How to deal with radiation?" section of this guide.

Enemies with a crown above their nameplate

The crown above a nameplate indicates that this is a miniboss.

The opponents with a crown by their name are a kind of minibosses. They are a bit stronger than standard enemies, but you will find much better equipment with them. It's worth to find and kill them, because you can find weapons with special properties while looting their corpse.

Remember about armor repairs

Repair your toys and equipment on a regular basis.

All weapons (weapons and armor) break down as they are used. This causes the weapon to deal less damage and the armor loses its protective properties. For this reason, you must remember to repair your weapons regularly - or to replace them if something better falls into your hands. Repair takes place at special tables located in cities. In addition, you also need the right materials - e.g. steel or leather.

Pip-Boy can be used as flashlight

The Pip-Boy makes it easy to search the dark corners.

You'll often find yourself in places where it's dark. Use the Pip-Boy as a flashlight to help you find your location. Just hold down the button responsible for using the Pip-Boy and there will be light around your character.
