Do I have to eat and drink in Fallout 76? Fallout 76 Guide, Walkthrough
Last update: 05 November 2018
The dangers in the world of Fallout 76 are not only bloodthirsty mutants. You still have to take care of proper food and hydration - and this is not so easy in the land full of radioactive waste. Failure to meet the basic needs of our character will lead to painful penalties hindering the game.
Hunger and thirst indicators are shown in the picture above. At the hunger bar you can see cutlery and at the thirst bar a drop of water - both indicators decrease with the passage of time. The stages of indicators and the resulting bonuses or penalties can be divided in the following way (the effects are the same for hunger and thirst):
- Above 75% level of the bar you get faster renewal of Action Points and greater resistance to diseases.
- Less than 25% of the bar - the maximum level of Action Points is reduced and the character has a better chance of getting ill.
- Bar at 0% - the maximum level of Action Points is further reduced and the chance of catching the disease is higher. In addition, your character starts to lose health points.
It is worth remembering that your character cannot die of hunger or thirst, but the penalties resulting from this weaken the hero a lot.
To supplement the hunger or thirst indicator you only need to take advantage of food and drinks. You will find them all over the game world - buildings, ruins or corpses of animals and monsters. However, you need to know that most food is radioactive to a greater or lesser degree. To reduce the radioactivity of food use cooking - fried meat is less radioactive than raw meat and boiled water is better than that taken directly from the river. Cooking takes place by the bonfire - you will find it in the cities as well as in the wilderness.
