The drivers and staff of your Formula 1 team from F1 Manager 2022 can accumulate Experience Points and receive Development Points . On this page of the guide, you will learn how to get more XP and what to spend development points on.
Development potential of drivers
Each driver in F1 Manager 2022 is described with a number of statistics and among them, the Growth Potential is particularly important - it affects how much XP a driver can accumulate during the season . The idea is as follows:
- The younger and less experienced the driver is, the more XP he can earn . This is because his development potential is high - he can learn a lot and he has many seasons before him to do so.
- The older and more experienced the driver, the less XP he gets . This is due to the low development potential - the driver will not learn many new things anymore and his F1 career is drawing to a close.
Development potential should not be the leading factor when choosing a driver, although it is worth paying attention to it, of course. You can sign a contract with a young driver and develop him in the following seasons, or go with an experienced one, while being aware that his statistics will not change much. You can also play it safe and look for drivers with average potential , i.e. those who have been racing for some time and have many seasons ahead of them.
XP and Development Points
Experience points are awarded after each race . They are received for:
- Participation in training sessions - It's worth taking care not to miss any training sessions.
- Participation in qualifiers - In this case, the number of points depends on how you fared in all qualifiers. If your driver is eliminated earlier, he will receive fewer points.
- Finishing the race - Reaching the finish line counts and the bonus may be lost if the driver is eliminated from the race, e.g. after a crash.
- Race Behavior - The game evaluates your driver's performance and awards points on that basis. Successful overtaking maneuvers and defending one's own position are positively rewarded, while unsuccessful overtaking and unsuccessful attempts to maintain position are rated worse.
A reserve driver in your team does not earn XP by default, but you can delegate him to take part in training sessions. This way he'll also amass experience points.
After accumulating enough XP, you will receive a Development Point . You can spend it on increasing any of the stats of the driver by 1 (the stats are in the 0-100 range)
You have a lot of freedom here, but we advise you to prioritize those items that affect the rest of the statistics negatively. In the example shown in the picture, Oscar Piastri has an extremely low Smoothness parameter and it is worth working on increasing it.
Staff XP
XP is also gathered by your Staff, e.g. by your Technical Director, or Head of Aerodynamics.
Experience, in this case, is accumulated over time and thanks to the Team Hub, which we described in the next section.
Here, too, you can receive development points in order to spend them on increasing the statistics of a given employee. You can improve the weakest stats or focus on the areas that are most important to you (e.g. improving engine cooling in the case of the head of aerodynamics).
Facilities useful when amassing XP
You can get Bonus XP thanks to certain Facilities. These are:
Race Simulator - It allows you to increase the weekly experience gain of drivers. Each new level of this building increases the XP bonus.
Team Hub - It allows you to increase the weekly gain of staff experience . Each new level of this building increases the XP bonus.
