F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff F1 Manager 2022 guide, tips

Developing Facilities and hiring Staff are among the responsibilities of a team manager in F1 Manager 2022. This page of the guide provides an overview of the best facilities and tips on how to hire staff.

Last update: 20 September 2022

Running your own team in F1 Manager 2022 consists, among other things, of setting up and expanding team facilities as well as managing key and subordinate personnel. On this page of the guide you will learn which facilities are the best and how to hire the best people for key positions in the team.

The original facilities condition

Facilities have a separate tab in the main menu of the game - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

Facilities have a separate tab in the main menu of the game. They are divided into 3 categories and each of them has separate structures.

The condition of the facilities at the start of the career may vary depending on the team selected. If you chose a team with a large budget, chances are that more facilities will be available at the start, or that they will be more developed. Leading a team with a smaller budget can force you to put up many things from scratch. Do not rush when doing it so as not to get into debt or lead to bankruptcy.

Facilities list

Below you will find a list of particularly useful facilities - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

Below you will find a list of particularly useful facilities. They include both very expensive buildings and those that you can put up at a low cost. Don't try to build everything on the list below at once, as it is very likely that your budget will not stand up to it.

  1. Design Center - this is, in our opinion, the most important facility in the game. It mainly affects the number of designs for new parts (for this or next season) that you may have active at the moment. Thanks to the Center, you can also increase the number of available engineers so that the research can proceed more efficiently. We advise you to upgrade this facility at least once per season.
  2. Factory - you should develop your Factory to at least level 2. This will allow you to produce parts faster and in larger quantities. This is especially important if you design a lot of parts and want to use the newly created parts right away.
  3. Car Part Test Center - theoretically, all objects from the Car Development tab are useful, but this one can be especially important, because it improves the cooling of the engine and brakes. Your cars can often have a problem with high temperatures and investing in this facility is one of the ways you can counteract it.
  4. Team Hub - this facility has two important features - it increases the amount of XP gained by your staff and improves team morale (not only that of employees, but also that of drivers). In addition, the general appeal of your team is increased.
  5. Race Simulator - the simulator is responsible for the increase of XP of your drivers. The high level of drivers' XP is especially important if you have younger drivers in your team with great potential for development.
  6. Weather Center - developing this facility improves the reliability of weather forecasts, which can help you significantly as many sessions in the game are played in the rain. Having an accurate forecast is especially important in qualifying and the race.
  7. Tour Center - this is a small venue that offers a small extra income from fans visiting your team's premises. You will not lose anything by putting up this facility; there are only benefits to it (small, but still).

Maintenance and modernization of facilities

During your career, you shouldn't go overboard with putting up too many facilities - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

During your career, you shouldn't go overboard with putting up too many facilities. The reason for this is that each facility has fixed monthly maintenance costs and in the case of large buildings (e.g. Factory or Design Center) they can go into hundreds of thousands of dollars. There may be a situation where money from sponsors will no longer be enough to cover current activities. Focus on the best facilities on our list and monitor your current budget.

Each object has a Condition bar and may be subject to gradual wear and tear. You will always receive a warning that the condition of a particular facility has deteriorated. If your team's budget allows you to do so, you should modernize it immediately, otherwise the effectiveness of a given facility will deteriorate, i.e. its profits will decrease (e.g. the speed of research or bonus to accumulated XP).

Key Staff

The key personnel of your team can be divided into two groups - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

The key personnel of your team can be divided into two groups. The Technical Chief and the Head of Aerodynamics help build better cars. The higher the skills of each of these employees, the greater the bonuses you can get for the parts you design.

These people have skills the value of which ranges from 0 to 100. The skills can be developed (XP and development points are obtained by completing race weekends). Focus on developing the skills you want to improve in the cars or those that the particular employee is particularly good in when compared to the rest.

Each of your drivers has their own personal Race Engineer, i - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

Each of your drivers has their own personal Race Engineer, i.e. a person with whom they communicate during all sessions. It is very important that the driver and engineer get along well (Pairing Affinity) - if the cooperation indicator is not displayed in green (good relations), then you should consider changing the engineer.

Race Engineers can accumulate XP for completed races and develop their skills as well, although there are only three types of skills to choose from.

Similarly to drivers, key personnel has signed contracts and the first of them may expire after the first season of the career - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

Similarly to drivers, key personnel has signed contracts and the first of them may expire after the first season of the career. This will force you to renegotiate or find another candidate for the position. We have described the scouting and negotiations in more detail on the Drivers selection page. The most important things are the following:

  1. Carry out a thorough scouting of applicants for the position - do it in advance and choose last 30 days. You will learn about the current contract of a given person, their expectations and chances of recruiting them to the team.
  2. Conducting proper negotiations with the current employee or new person - you must offer conditions that the director or engineer will accept. It is a good idea to save the game before the negotiations, because unsuccessful attempts may irritate the person and they will reject any further conversations.
In the case of key personnel, there is also an additional factor - some of the key personnel may decide to retire - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

In the case of key personnel, there is also an additional factor - some of the key personnel may decide to retire. This is because there are many elderly people among the staff. In such a situation, you cannot negotiate a new contract with the particular employee. You will have to look for their successor instead.

Subordinate Staff

The rest of the team' - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

The rest of the team's staff is divided into 3 groups:

Engineering Team - their task is to design car parts. By default, it consists of 10 engineers, but you'll be able to hire additional people by expanding the Design Center. You should always have as many engineers as allowed by the limit unless your team finances are very bad and you need to save money.

Scouting Team - their task is to scout drivers and key personnel in terms of their suitability and salary requirements. By default, you have 3 scouts and that should be enough for you because there is no need to scout a huge number of people all the time. If you want to increase employment, you must first develop a related facility: Scouting Department.

Pit Crew - this team is responsible for handling the cars during pit stops - F1 Manager 2022: Facilities and Staff - Basics - F1 Manager 2022 Guide

Pit Crew - this team is responsible for handling the cars during pit stops. In this case, the number of team members stays the same at all times. You can, however, increase the skills of your employees. Development points are earned as you play GPs. The most important areas are Tyre Changes and Car Release, which are part of every pit stop. It is worth choosing them instead of focusing on sustainable development.
