If you happen to complain about lack of realism in video games, it is worth looking at the world of racing games. Series such as Forza, Asseto Corsa and Gran Turismo have been setting a standard for the industry for many years and prove that it is possible to create pleasant, entertaining simulators. The new installment of the Japanese series could raise the bar even higher in this field.
While certain limits of digital realism are gradually being crossed by racing games, it is beyond doubt that next-gen is a new hand dealt for the Genre, opening it to even more possibilities. And Gran Turismo 7 is supposed to squeeze everything it can from the PS5 (read: ray tracing, 4K, HDR in glorious 60 fps, more power for physics calculations, use of controller's adaptive triggers).
Polyphony Digital will once again give racing freaks access to licensed cars (including the highly-anticipated Porsche Carrera), a lot of modifications needed for extensive tuning, as well as an extensive story campaign full of racing championships, missions and other optional activities. It is worth noting that the fans have been waiting for the official continuation of the series for more than 7 years (not counting the side installment called Gran Turismo Sport, released on PS4).
