2. Horizon: Forbidden West - post-apocalypse with robotic elephants

We and Aloy are looking for the Release date.

  1. Why worth the wait: we are curious to see how this relatively new IP will develop
  2. Release date: 2021
  3. Genre: action adventure
  4. Platforms: PS5, PS4

Let's be honest, Sony's exclusive titles are not always very innovative. These are often TPP action games set in either linear or open world, but they keep the quality level high enough that we have nothing to complain about. It was similar with the first Horizon - on the one hand we were excited about the fact that Guerrilla Games is taking on a new, original universe, but on the other hand we could guess what is coming in terms of gameplay. And quite frankly, Forbidden West does not intend to break out of this trend.

Because we expect from this game around as much as from the upcoming God of War sequel. It's supposed to offer more, be more perfect and just a little bit better in general, and the rest will hold its ground perfectly when left alone. In Zero Dawn the devs managed to balance adventure, action and exploration with welcome RPG elements (skill trees and choice of attitudes in dialogues). Perhaps it would be worthwhile to spice up the sequel with a pinch of classic survival?

Man waits like a fool for the new Horizon also because it will expand and already attractive world, in which the tribes of the past fantastically complement each other with futuristic technology and all kinds of animal machines. We will see in which direction the plot will go, because the first game ended in quite an interesting moment. However, we can be sure that even more picturesque locations will await us, and the trailer even showed huge, cybernetic mammoths.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
