The seventh major installment in the popular car racing series from Polyphony Digitial. Gran Turismo 7 brings back a full-fledged singleplayer career mode along with licenses. We can drive hundreds of different cars on real-world and fictional tracks, playing alone or competing with other people.
Gran Turismo 7 is the next installment of the popular series of car racing games published by Sony for the PlayStation consoles. The game was produced by the Japanese development studio Polyphony Digital.
Gameplay
Gran Turismo 7 continues the formula known from previous installments of the series, restoring a full-fledged single-player career mode (absent in 2017's Gran Turismo Sport). In this mode we collect cars and learn their history through Cafe, and we also earn credits, which we can use to buy more vehicles or upgrade the ones we already own. License tests again play a crucial role, the completion of which is a necessary condition to participate in more advanced races.
The driving model is relatively realistic, and the physics system takes into account a number of factors affecting the car in motion, including speed, mass, aerodynamics, suspension type, road surface condition and weather conditions. The latter is especially important as dynamic weather and time of day changes return in GT7.
The game's premiere version included 424 licensed cars (mass produced, sports, conceptual, racing, rally etc.) and 97 tracks in 34 locations. These last ones include both authentic race tracks and fictional routes - not only asphalt, but also gravel ones. It's worth noting that more cars and tracks were added through post-launch updates.
Multiplayer
Gran Turismo 7 allows to play alone in an extensive career mode and in the so-called Music Rallies. The game also allows for online races with other users - primarily in Sport mode (transferred from the previous installment of the series), which has a semi-professional character. Split-screen competition for two people was also taken into account.
4K, 60 fps and ray tracing
Gran Turismo 7 offers realistic graphics, and all vehicles in the game have been recreated in detail. The game is aiming for native 4K resolution and 60 frames per second along with ray tracing support (in select game modes). It also supports other PS5-related technologies, such as the SSD drive guaranteeing shortened data loading, Tempest 3D sound, and haptic vibrations of the DualSense controller.
My First Gran Turismo
In December 2024, a special demo version of the game has been made available, titled My First Gran Turismo. The idea was to create a sample aimed at new players, which was supposed to evoke a love for the series (and cars) in the same way as the first installments did in the 1990s. Therefore, its content mainly consists of licensing tests and 18 cars, among which iconic sports models mix with "ordinary" vehicles from various parts of the world. Cars unlocked in My First GT can be transferred to GT7.

Gran Turismo 7 Review - Sleeping Beauty
Finally, Polyphony Digital takes us back to the future. Gran Turismo 7 recovers all singleplayer features fans loved the series for, and gives them modern look. But the game itself doesn’t feel modern at all, sadly. Forza got far away.

Hardcore Gamer: 5 / 5 by Cory Wells
Gran Turismo 7 is the quintessential Gran Turismo and the best of what the series has accrued over its 25 years of existence.
GamesBeat: 4.5 / 5 by Mike Minotti
More than how it looks or plays, I appreciate Gran Turismo 7’s vibe. It’s just pleasant. I know I can start the game, play through a few races or license tests, and make some meaningful progress. Of course, if you’re looking for something a bit more competitive, that’s there with multiplayer. I was even surprised to see the game offer a two-player splitscreen mode that ran well. But that’s not how I want to play Gran Turismo 7. I’m just here for the vibes and some relaxing rides, and GT7 is happy to let me enjoy it on my own terms.

Gran Turismo 7 Finally With New Content; Unfortunately, It's Scraps
We've been waiting almost two months for Gran Turismo 7 to get new cars or tracks. It's a shame, though, that in patch 1.13, released today, Polyphony Digital did not spoil the players. There are barely three new cars, and it's impossible to find anything „new” in the added track.
