15. Stray - cat in a cyberpunk city

A cat is the best seller system ever. - The Most Wanted Video Games Coming in 2021 - dokument - 2020-12-23
A cat is the best seller system ever.
  1. Why worth the wait: there's no such thing as too much cyberpunk - especially if it's prepared by ambitious indie developers
  2. Release date: 2021
  3. Genre: action adventure
  4. Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4

Are you following the global indie scene? If so, you are probably aware that at the moment there are 2 major players in this field - Devolver Digital and Annapurna Interactive. The former has already released a game with a cat in the lead role - it's the pixelart platformer Gato Roboto and it's addictive as hell. The competitor decided to follow in competition's footsteps by announcing a game called Stray. Also in this work, we will play the role of a four-legged milk-drinker, but the creators decided to go all the way and set the action in a world that falls nothing short of cyberpunk. Should CD Projekt Red be afraid? Actually... I'd better not answer that right now.

Half joking, but the fact is that Stray attracted our attention and managed to do so without any actual gameplay footage. Although we have received a teaser in the form of an atmospheric story trailer, we still have no idea what exactly to expect from this title.

The available descriptions promise a lot - we rarely get a chance to control a cat freely, and in this case we will get to visit quite a futuristic metropolis inhabited by robots leading ordinary lives. Stray is also another proof that all it takes is a catchy idea to be quickly noticed by the players as a title worth following. And wiggle its way into our list of most anticipated launches apparently.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
