Time for another, boy.
  1. Why worth the wait: the previous part delighted the whole world
  2. Release date: 2021
  3. Genre: action adventure
  4. Platforms: PS5, maybe PS4

Santa Monica Studio hit the bullseye, deciding to reboot the God of War series in 2018. Although the American developers have not forgotten about the story presented in the previous parts of Kratos' adventures, they decided to make the dynamic, brutal hack'n'slash into an impressive action game with a semi-open world and an intimate story focused on the relationship between a demanding father and his temperamental son. And I haven't yet mentioned the complex character progression trees and a handful of side activities with solutions that smell of good RPG.

What do we expect from Ragnarok? Essentially a natural, not over-engineered sequel, because all the best was already included 2 years ago. It would be nice to get even more freedom of movement on the map, although we will see what the creators managed to cook up in this relatively short time. The subtitle suggests that can expect a full-blown divine war, so the action may definitely pick up pace (the scattering of the mother's ashes was just the beginning).

The upcoming God of War is also interesting from a technological point of view, as it will be one of the first exclusive titles on PlayStation 5 (although I wouldn't be surprised if it also appeared on PlayStation 4) after the launch titles. I wouldn't expect a complete revolution, because this is only the beginning of the new generation, but the new Demon's Souls has already managed to show the capabilities of this console - for example from the visual side.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

And what exactly am I, the author of the text, waiting for? The usual. The new God of War, although I am very interested in Stray and Biomutant, not to mention the new NieR, which is very tempting. From releases not mentioned above, I'm waiting above all on Gamedec, which I hope will be my dream cross between Cyberpunk 2077 from Disco Elysium.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
