Artisans
While exploring the world of Sanctuary, we will meet artisans ready to assist us with their skills. After completing a quest in Act 1, we'll gain access to the Blacksmith, while the middle of the Act 2 introduces us to the Jeweler. In both cases the artisans start off on level 1, but if we invest some money in their line or work and find appropriate Pages of Training, they will quickly level up and extend their services.
Pages of Training are dropped by monsters on higher difficulty levels.
Learning how to build our artisans' skills is one thing, but it's another to learn how we can use them on the higher difficulty levels. Throughout the whole gameplay we'll be obtaining all kinds of gems, which - upon placing in sockets present in some items - will increase their powers. The Jeweler will allow us to combine lower lever gems with higher level gems, thus acquiring better bonuses. Hence, if we have unnecessary gem stones in the inventory it's better to upgrade them at once, and then place in armor or weapon sockets. But what to do if we want to get rid of equipment? This is when the Jeweler's other skill comes into play - unsocketing of items. For a small fee we can remove a gem from one item and put it in another one. Thanks to that we can obtain various Attribute bonuses and increase Magic Find(Topazin helmet), Critical Hits (Emeraldin weapon), or even the amount of health points (Amethyst
The other artisan whose skills we will be using throughout the whole game is the Blacksmith. The Blacksmith's basic ability is the salvaging of items - it allows us to break down a magic, rare or legendary item and obtain special materials from it. The kind of the item that you receive depends on its type. We can then use those materials to create new magic items: and it's best to use the best weapon or a piece of armor available at the present moment, because the higher the level of the item, the better the chance of acquiring the strongest properties
After you reach the tenth experience level, you will be allowed to craft exalted items at the smithy. These are the best weapons and armors that can be crafted in the game, as long as you have schematics for them.
