Characteristics | Demon Hunter Diablo III Guide
Last update: 01 February 2017
My first contact with the Demon Hunter was interesting, because this character class immediately reminded me of a combination between the Amazon from Diablo II and the famous Witcher from other RPG series. The more I played the game this feeling was becoming stronger.
Demon Hunter is in my opinion the most interesting of all the character classes available in the game. While playing in close combat you must be constantly moving, trying to circling the enemies. When the fights switch to large distance combat you may use many various strategies. These strategies include carrying bows, fast one-handed crossbows, heavy two-handed siege crossbows, throwing knives and grenades, as well setting up traps, constructing defense turrets and relying on shadow skills which allow the Demon Hunter to stay invisible for a short while. That's not all, because I didn't even mention summoning various companions to the battlefield, like ravens, spiders, bats, boars, ferrets or wolves...
The Demon Hunter has one important similarity with the Monk, because his main attribute is Dexterity which allows him to deal more damage and which increases his chances of performing successful dodges. This class has various offensive and defensive skills and uses two types of energy sources. Hatred restores quickly and it can also be charged by some skills. Discipline on the other hand is used with more "technical" skills. It regenerates much slower and it offers a smaller number of points. Having two energy types means of course that you can use very advanced tactical manuevers, making this class a feast for a fan of the hack'n'slash genre.
The hunter can be armed only with one-handed weapons in melee combat, however he shows his true potential when he's carrying and actively using one of the ranged weapons. If you prefer high speed ranged attacks, then you should consider equipping this character class with two crossbows. If you prefer to have better attributes and want the weapon to show more potential, then you should consider using a bow mixed with special types of quivers, like for example with "ammunition" which increases attack speed, improves Dexterity or allows for faster regeneration of both energy sources. It's worth mentioning that Demon Hunters can use hoods created specifically for them and these objects in many cases allow the hunters to improve their Dexterity.
The official Blizzard's artbook says that Demon Hunters have a unique gothic style inspired by the clothes worn in the Middle Ages. This and all the perks mentioned earlier in the text should be enough for a recommendation and each Diablo III fan should spend time exploring the advantages of this class at least once.
