Gaining experience

1. Let's start with leveling up. Your units gain experience by defeating enemy units. Thanks to that they can level up - you can increase their combat abilities, defense capabilities or mobility.
2. Base your upgrades on mission goals. You must defend a place? Focus on defensive upgrades to make your units last longer.
3. New levels really strengthen units - sometimes, it is better to get a little bit of experience before you charge at enemies.

Better equipment

1. Buying better equipment is another way of upgrading your units. Click on a unit and select the right option.
2. Upgrades require iron - however, an upgraded unit is much more resistant. Shieldbearers are especially worth upgrading because they will be able to withstand a lot of damage.

Technology development

1. After establishing a base select a building where you can recruit units - there, you can find additional upgrades. Sometimes, you can even unlock a new ability for a given unit. Berserkers can, e.g. receive an ability that allows them to go into frenzy which boosts their stats.
2. Upgrades can also be unlocked at a Blacksmith - temporary upgrades can be activated in places of worship (churches etc.).
