Surface | Venus | Walkthrough Wolfenstein II Guide
Last update: 30 November 2017
During this part on the Venus the protagonist lands on the surface of the planet. The environment is harmful here and during most of the time the player needs to keep the hero from overheating.
Enter the Oberkommando
One of the many cooling stations used to replenish the coolant in the suit.
- Once you regain control over the character, notice the new indicator at the bottom of the screen (a snowflake icon). It shows the thermal isolation of the character. While on the surface of the planet, that indicator will decrease (and the suit will get warmer) - once it's exhausted, the character will die.
- The thermal isolation can be improved by entering buildings and replenishing the coolant of the suit at the special cooling stations. You will run into those stations constantly, they are hard to miss.
- There's nothing to do here, so just head straight ahead until you reach a new place. Jump down and replenish the coolant of the suit at the cooling station.
Another Zitadelle to eliminate.
- Continue the march along the narrow ledge (replenish the coolant along the way) until you reach the end of it. A Zitadelle will emerge from the right - you can try to sneak past the robot, but it's easier to just take it out with grenade launchers / heavy weapons. Run back on the ledge you came through and fight the enemy from there - Zitadelle will have problems hitting you with the mortar and it won't be able to reach you with flames.
- Collect the armor left by the enemy, replenish the coolant of your suit and head towards the marker.
- Soon a Commander indicator should appear on the screen. Enter the nearby building to reach a new area.
Don't miss the map of the location!
- There are many enemies in this location - it's advised to take out as many as possible with a silenced weapon. Remember that your suit won't be heating up while you're inside a building - you don't have to monitor the status of the coolant.
- If you're unable to take out the enemy Commander before getting discovered by the enemy, rush towards his position. The enemy is located near the entrance, getting to him will take you second and a quick elimination will prevent most of the enemies from appearing in the room.
- Once the building is clear, head to the north-western edge of the room - there's a map of the location hidden there. The exact location of the map, as well as other collectibles, can be found in the "Secrets" chapter of this guide.
- Head towards the other side (east) of the building. Climb up the ladder to reach a new level of the building.
UberSoldaten shouldn't be much of a problem.
- Once you emerge outside, you should see an inactive UberSoldaten nearby. Try to sneak to the enemy and take him out with a melee attack before he notices you. There's a SuperSoldaten and a number of Drones in the area as well.
- Monitor the cooling system of your suit - there's a cooling terminal located on the upper floor of this location.
- Once you get to the upper floor, a new Commander indicator will appear on the screen. There are only a few enemies here, making it easy to just sneak to the enemy Commander and take him out before he can sound the alarm.
A new type of enemy you will encounter here - a Laserhund.
- Once you reach the next floor, regenerate the coolant at the cooling station and prepare for an encounter with a new enemy - a Laserhund. This is a miniature version of the Panzerhund - the enemy shoots lasers and explodes once eliminated. You should try to keep a safe distance while fighting those foes.
- Once the encounter with the Laserhund is over, head to the next room. Collect all of the items (and collectibles) located here, regenerate health and coolant of the suit and leave the building.
A blockade you must break through.
- Once outside, you will run into another inactive UberSoldaten - try to take it out silently before the enemy can reactivate. There are Drones and SuperSoldaten here as well.
- Continue your march towards the upper floor and reach the end of it. Regenerate the coolant of the suit, cross the pipes to reach the other side, break through the blockade and continue until you reach the next area.
There are some places where you don't have to be silent because there's no Commander in the area.
- You will enter another building. Your character is protected from the heat. There's a small group of enemies located near the entrance. You can take them out quietly, with hatchets and/or silenced weapons, but you don't have to - there are no Commanders in the area to sound the alarm.
- Once you've eliminated the enemies, head to the elevator and activate the button to reach the upper floor.
Ubergewehr is without a doubt the most powerful weapon in the game.
- You will end up in a laboratory. There are several enemies here - you should have no problems taking them out one by one.
- You will also find a new and without a doubt the most powerful weapon in the game - the Ubergewehr. This is a heavy weapon, which means the character will drop it once you change to anything else. The weapon shoots projectiles that, upon contact with anything, open small black holes. The black holes attract enemies towards them and explode violently several seconds later, instantly annihilating almost any foe. The weapon requires both energy and fuel to function - you must visit recharge and refueling stations to replenish the ammo for it.
- Grab the weapon, leave the laboratory through the exit located on the other side and head to the tunnel. You should soon leave the building and return to the surface of the planet.
You can take those UberSoldaten out quietly.
- You will find multiple inactive UberSoldaten in the tunnel - approach them silently and use executions to take them out before they can react.
- Replenish the coolant of your suit and jump down on the conveyor belt. This will cause the character to temporarily drop the heavy weapon - if you have any at the moment. The protagonist will automatically take out one of his own weapons.
- During the "journey" on the conveyor belt, you must take out enemies scattered around the area. Once you reach the end of the belt, pick up the weapon and head straight ahead to the new room.
The enemies have no chances against the new weapon.
- There are two enemy Commanders located here. Normally it would be advised to take them out quietly, but this time you can just use your newly acquired weapon and wreak havoc - the enemies won't stand a chance against the Ubergewehr.
- Once you clear the area, explore both of the floors and all rooms, as there are numerous treasures hidden here. Use both of the terminals to charge the Ubergewehr, head to the highest floor and use the elevator to reach the new area.
Retrieve the ODIN codes
A huge enemy group awaits you in the last room.
- Take out the first group of enemies here. You don't have to be stealthy, as there are no Commanders here yet. Collect the items and go through the next door.
- Here you will find an enemy Commander located on the other side of the command center. A stealth approach is not easy here - it's better to just rush to the other side and take the enemy out. Afterwards, you just need to eliminate all of the remaining foes.
- Once you take out all of the enemies, head to the middle of the command center and jump into the ventilation shaft. Get to the other side of the tunnel, enter the next room and activate the computer located there. This will initiate a cut-scene and complete the entire chapter.
