Rations & Supplies in Ghost Recon Breakpoint - Types, Preparation, Usage Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint guide, tips
Last update: 14 October 2019
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a simple crafting system that allows you to create utility items such as grenades, first aid kits and mines. Additionally, it allows you to create and then consume rations, which are different versions of food that offer various bonuses during the game. In this chapter, you will learn how to acquire crafting materials required to create rations. Also, you will get to know how to prepare and use them.
Acquisition of crafting materials
The first thing you need to take care of before you even think about creating rations are the materials required to prepare them. Crafting materials can be obtained by exploring the world - dozens of different raw materials are scattered across forests, plains, mountainous areas. You may also find them inside buildings. There are many different raw materials to collect - peppers, mangoes and even obsidians. Some of these materials are used to craft utility items (grenades, mines, C4 charges, syringes, etc.), but most of them are used to create rations.
Please note that it is worthwhile to acquire the Resource Detection skill at an early stage of the game. Thanks to this skill, spots with crafting materials will be marked on your mini-map. This greatly facilitates their acquisition, and the ability itself costs just 1 skill point.
How to prepare rations
Once you have obtained the required resources, just get to any bivouac (whether located on a world map or the one in Erewhon) and activate it. Then open the Craft tab, where there are two tabs - the first one, from which you can craft the mentioned utility items and the second one, containing 'recipes' for rations. We are obviously interested in the latter option.
When you switch to the second tab, the screen will show the available types of rations that you can create (colored white), or the ones for which you lack raw materials or you already have their maximum amount (red). If you want to create a particular type of rations, click on it to open the raw material selection window. Here you have to choose raw materials that will be used to prepare rations. Depending on the level of rations, it may require from 1 up to 3 crafting materials. Once you have selected the raw materials, just click on the rations icon to create them.
Use of rations
After rations have been created, they have to be consumed in order to obtain all benefits and bonuses. To do this, open the inventory window and click on the water flask icon available in the bottom right corner. In the new window, select the item you are interested in, close the inventory window and select food that is ready for consumption from the quick selection circle. Now all you need to do is activate it like any other item - with the "G" key (LB/L1 in the XOne/PS4 version of the game).
The bonus will be effective as soon as the character has eaten rations. All bonuses will last until the specified number of minutes. Please note that a character can only have one active provision bonus - if you consume another type, previous benefits will be replaced by a newer ones.
Tips
Finally, a few tips to keep in mind when using rations, namely:
- Initially, only a few types of rations will be available to prepare. To increase this amount, unlock two abilities - Rations LVL 2 and Rations LVL 3. They will add two consecutive levels of rations, which offer new bonuses or enhance your basic bonuses.
- You can find rations while exploring the map. You will often find them inside buildings or near groups of civilians that you can meet while traversing the forest.
- Remember that you can only have one bonus active at a time - consuming another type of rations will change the bonus.
- It is worth to use rations during difficult battles, or in moments when you know that you may have to fight with a large group of enemies.
