How to get crafting materials efficiently in Ghost Recon Breakpoint? Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint guide, tips
Last update: 17 October 2019
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a simple crafting system. It may not be as sophisticated (regarding weapon modifications) as the one available in The Division series, however, it still allows you to create simple items and consumables. You will need crafting materials - read this chapter to learn how to get them.
Materials to improve weapons
In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, you can use a rather simple weapons upgrade system - you can increase their accuracy, damage or reduce the reload time. This requires, however, appropriate crafting materials - these can only be obtained by dismantling unnecessary weapons. To dismantle a weapon for crafting materials, simply highlight the unwanted item and press the button displayed on the screen to turn it into crafting materials.
Remember about two things. Each weapon gives you several types of crafting materials - for the overall weapon upgrade, as well as for the type of weapon that has been disassembled (pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, and so on). Therefore, it is necessary to regularly dismantle all types of weapons. You should also unlock Better Dismantle skill - it increases the number of materials obtained from dismantling.
Materials for crafting consumables
The second group of items that need crafting materials are consumables. This group includes grenades, C4 charges, mines, grenade launchers or syringes - a table and description of all of them can be found in the "Consumables" section.
To craft them, you need materials that can only be found in the world - they are various flowers, herbs or fruits scattered throughout the island. Some of them, like electronic components, can be obtained by eliminating enemy drones, mortars or turrets. You can get a lot of them by attacking enemy convoys. The materials from this group are the hardest to obtain because consumables require a lot of these materials and/or rare ones - the better way to get consumables is to purchase them or find inside a hostile base.
Note - you can find materials faster by unlocking Resource Detection skill. After getting this ability, resources will be displayed on the mini-map as white dots.
Materials for crafting provisions
In addition to weapon upgrades and crafting consumables, you can also collect resources for making provisions. Some of them are the same as those for crafting consumables - various fruits, vegetables and herbs. You can use them to craft provisions - items that offer a short-term (lasting from 10 to 30 minutes) bonus to the selected stat. More information about Provisions in "Rations & Supplies" chapter.
