Hiding from enemies plays an extremely important role in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint - you are being hunted (you play the role of 'wild animal' here) and a direct battle with opponents may often end in instant death of your character. So, it's important to avoid direct contact with enemy and use camouflage at all costs. In this chapter we explain how to remain unnoticed by the enemy and how to escape when your opponents have noticed you.

Sneaking and silent elimination of targets

Terrain obstacles can also be used to hide from the enemy.

Sneaking around, quietly approaching the target and silent elimination of enemies are habits that should be learned from the very beginning while playing Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This way, you'll be able to easily knock out even a large number of enemies without alerting the rest of nearby opponents. Also, you will avoid fighting with much heavier reinforcements like drones or helicopters. During these activities, it is important to remember the following things:

1. Move by crouching or crawling. This reduces your movement speed, but the multitude of bushes and obstacles will make you practically invisible to the enemy.
2. Mark your targets before eliminating them. Before combat, it's worth to do reconnaissance of the closest area and mark all enemies or key places ( like alarm switches or fuses). You can do this by simply holding the cursor on the target or by using a drone and/or binoculars. Marked enemies will be visible on the screen at all times, making it easy to eliminate them and plan further moves.
3. Avoid contact with helicopters and patrol drones. If they notice you, they'll alert nearby enemies - and in the case of drones, they may summon a squad of mercenaries called Wolves, who are far more dangerous than regular enemies. When you hear or see a helicopter and/or drone approaching, hide in bushes, behind a terrain obstacle or throw yourself to the ground in the mud and use camouflage.

Camouflage

Character crawling and lying in mud or snow is practically invisible to the enemy.

Camouflage is an important feature that allows you to effectively avoid contact with enemies. In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint you can use it in two ways, as following:

1. Hide in the bushes. When a character crouches in tall grass or lies in a low equivalent, the screen will be gently dimmed. This means that the character is hidden - enemies and drones will not be able to see you unless you start firing or the enemy approaches you at close range.
2. Use camouflage. When you lie down on the ground near mud or snow, you will be able to activate additional camouflage. Your character will be coated with the substance from the ground and become stiff without any motion. It's the same effect as hiding in the bushes - only those enemies that come very close to you may notice you.

It's worth remembering that you can fire from your temporary hideout, preferably with a silenced weapon, but enemies tend to check where the character shot from - even if they didn't hear the bullet or see you, they'll still go there. So it is worth to fire a few shots and move away to the nearby or distant by several meters bushes, where enemies won't be able to find you.

Tips and advice

Finally, a handful of tips on the mechanics of hiding from enemy. Check them out:

1. Always try to eliminate opponents while being hidden. The game is quite realistic in terms of damage and often a single bullet is enough to put the enemy down, but this also applies to the player's character - a few seconds of intense enemy fire is enough to see the "game over" screen.
2. Always mark your targets before elimination. This is especially true in situations where you have to clean up enemy outposts, where you have lots of opponents to kill. With tags and markers, you'll be able to see them all the time, plus you can even determine their status using the icon above their heads - white when they're calm, yellow when they're alerted and started looking for you, or red when enemies know you're around and they may start attacking.
3. If an enemy helicopter or patrol drones detect you, it's a good idea to leave the spot where you have been noticed. Move away from these units a dozen or so meters and try to break the visual contact, by running into a big bush or terrain obstacle. All you have to do is jump into the grass or use camouflage - then wait a dozen or so seconds for the enemies to give up their pursuit.
