The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Notice boards The Witcher 3 Guide
Last update: 11 August 2021
This page of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt guide focuses on the notice boards and their function. We also explain how to identify boards that weren't checked by Geralt yet.
Notice boards - their locations and role
Notice boards in Witcher 3 are a unique type of markers. They can be found mostly in villages, cities and near inns. Two main applications of the notice boards are:
- Adding new question marks to the world map that inform you about locations you have yet to discover. In order to unlock new markers you must only interact with the board, you don't need to read the messages on it.
- Unlocking new side quests and witcher contracts - Not all pages from notice boards unlock new quests. Quests are added to the journal only after examining the pages with an official seal.
Important - the game doesn't force you to unlock quests with the use of notice boards. You can start a quest by finding the quest giver and meeting with him as well. The boards are only a way to make it easier to find new quests.
Notice boards - additional information
- Yellow color at the notice board means that you haven't checked it yet. White color means that you have read the notes left on it. It doesn't mean you should ignore them for the rest of the game. Later in the game some new pages might appear on them that unlock new quests.
- After interacting with a notice board it marks only closest optional locations (question marks) on the map, not all of them available in the region. In case of larger territories (like Novigrad city) you must visit more than one notice board in order to add all available undiscovered locations to your map.
