Read valuable advices so that you won't regret decisions later in the game.

Before you start the game, you should read through and remember some basic information. This will increase the enjoyment of the game, allowing you to avoid making unnecessary / wrong decisions that you will regret later in the game. Additionally, you will be able to plan the development of your character and the sequence in which you complete various quests.

  • The Technomancer is a RPG game, which is why there's character development implemented in the game. There are three character classes in the game, along with the special abilities centered around lightning. Abilities are assigned to specific types of warriors (classes), which is why you should decide which one of those is the most appropriate for you (more on that can be found in the Classes and combat chapter).
  • Quests can be completed in any order, in multiple ways and sometimes can even be significantly shortened. This can be done by avoiding earlier investigation that would lead you to the destination. Sometimes you will be able to do this accidentally by wandering through the city and fighting enemies that have story-related items in their inventories - make sure that you don't ruin the fun by doing so. However, the game is quite complicated - a lot of quests are closely associated with others, even if they aren't directly connected.
  • Read the dialogues in quests carefully. The game won't specify the place you must head to, sometimes you won't even get information about what to do afterwards in the description of steps in the journal.
  • If you are a fan of collecting stuff, you can invest in Opening locks from the very beginning, as the first town you start in has some locks that require the highest (3) level of the ability. Additional items (mainly crafting materials) can be found in various containers (even trash cans), but most of the items will be acquired from defeated enemies.
  • If you want to level up your character quickly, you can (aside from completing main and side quests, of course) fight with numerous enemies. A lot of them can be found in The Slums, and some of them will respawn in various places after a certain amount of time has passed. More powerful enemies (monsters) can be found in The Underworks.
  • The death of your character ends the game. Afterwards, you will be forced to reload a saved game. The case is different when it comes to companions. They won't die and you can recruit one of them (Scott Seeker in The Slums) at the beginning of the game. If you don't mind to walk around with an NPC, you should always travel with a companion. You can have up to two companions at a time.
  • The game uses day & night system, which is closely associated with various elements of the game, such as quests. With time your character will become tired and will lose combat experience bonus. You can go rest in any hideout (located in every district) - while doing so you will be able to select the time of the day you want to wake up at. Rested character gain a bonus to gained experience, which is why you should go to bed from time to time.
  • During the early phase of the game a lot of talents will be very situational and used occasionally. You can increase them by using specific clothing, such as the Doctor's Coat which increases the level of Science by 1.
